The duo was on a honeymoon on the Greek Island of Sifnos. The two were in a private helicopter which crashed just meters from a landing pad.

Alexander and Marie were on a private helicopter which crashed, killing the pair and the pilot. As per reports, the couple had taken the helicopter from the village of Markopoulo near Athens, and they were headed to the popular holiday island, Kathimerini. The investigations are underway to determine what caused the crash.
The police revealed that the crash happened just before the helicopter's scheduled landing time. Sifnos Deputy Mayor arrived at the scene after the incident and shared that there was nothing left of the aircraft. He also revealed that locals said the helicopter crashed within meters of their homes and described a bizarre engine noise coming from the aircraft as it was about to land.
As per reports, two victims were found in the wreckage while the third was found a short distance away. Firefighters rushed to tackle the burning blaze which broke out after the fatal crash. As per authorities, strange noises were coming from the aircraft, a privately chartered Bell 206, before it fell to the ground and exploded. A police officer revealed, "We can confirm that two passengers, Marie Ebert and Alexander Cromie, died in the incident on Monday evening."
Elbert and Cromie were aged 30 and 31 respectively, and the two recently got married. On the other hand, the pilot was identified as 53-year-old Giorgos Raikos, and he was a former air force officer. One source said:
"The focus of the inquiry is now on the helicopter and possible engine failure. What has happened is nothing short of a tragedy."
Deputy Mayor also confirmed that the helicopter was making a strange noise, which was due to a mechanical fault in the air. He said:
"People in the area have testified hearing the helicopter making a noise, a strange noise, probably a mechanical fault in the air and because the propeller was doing something strange."
CCTV footage is also being studied of the aircraft spiralling out of control as it approached the island’s helipad near the village of Exambela. A local resident revealed that the helicopter crashed about 50 meters away from houses with people inside and about 50 meters from the landing spot next to the Panayia. He said:
"The helicopter crashed about 50 metres away from houses with people inside and about 50 metres from the landing spot next to the Panayia tis Vrysis monastery."
Rescue workers arrived on time to extinguish the flames. The Island's mayor, Maria Nadali, talked about the horrific crash and stated that they were shocked and were trying to manage it together with the right services, and said:
"We are shocked and are trying to manage, together with the right services, the consequences of this incident next to the helipad."
In Greece, hiring private helicopters has become quite common with the increase in tourists. They charter these helicopters to hop between islands in the Ionian and Aegean seas.
