Every Indian is waiting with bated breath for the release of the much-awaited war drama, Border 2, set for January 23, 2026. Amid much anticipation for the film, several reports stated that its early morning shows were cancelled in many areas. The reason is cited as a technical glitch. Let us read on to know more about it.
According to various reports, the distributors of Border 2 and the cinemas booked to screen the film were on a tightrope, as the film faced trouble with an early morning show. The report suggested that the early morning shows were cancelled due to technical issues. Exhibitors independently confirmed to many media channels that shows in some parts of the country were affected.

According to Hindustan Times, a trade source confirmed that many of the film's morning shows were cancelled due to the late delivery of the content. According to Film Information, the final cut of the film was not ready until late Thursday night. The report further stated that a WhatsApp text message from UFO Moviez stated that the download would begin at 6.30 AM. And because of a 192-minute runtime that could take 3-4 hours, many parts of the country faced cancellation of the early morning show.

According to recent reports, after the cancellation of the 8 am show, Border 2 is currently playing in theatres. The reports also stated that the print issues have been resolved, and the film is successfully running the morning shows as per schedule.

Ahead of the film’s release, Border 2 sold over 4 lakh tickets and earned Rs. 12.5 crore on January 22, 2026. This includes just over Rs. 5 lakh gross from premium formats like IMAX, 4DX, and DOLBY CINE. The film doubled its advance booking gross on day 1, Thursday, going from Rs. 6 crore to Rs.12 crore within 12 hours. Border 2’s pre-sales had beaten Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which collected a little more than Rs. 9 crores.

Border 2 is the sequel to the 1997 cult classic war drama, Border, directed by J.P. Dutta. Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh and more. According to multiple reports, the film draws on various operations that took place during the Indo-Pak War and extends beyond the Longewala battle.

Border 2 is surely set to break many records at the box office.
