Now, just months after the shocking move, Bob has found himself in the spotlight once again after it was revealed that he, along with Thrive Capital founder Josh Kushner, are purchasing the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to multiple reports, they are buying the NBA team for a record-breaking USD 12 billion. With this being the highest price ever paid for an American sports franchise, fans have now become curious about Bob Iger’s massive net worth, as well as that of his wife, Willow Bay.

According to a 2019 report by Forbes, Bob Iger’s net worth was already estimated at around USD 690 million. This was due in part by his annual salary at Disney, which was reportedly USD 65 million. Later, The Hollywood Reporter revealed Bob’s 2024 pay package, which encompassed his additional compensation. The publication claimed that it exceeded USD 41 million. The year before, his compensation was about USD 31 million and included a USD 1 million salary.
A Disney heir named Abigail Disney spoke out about Bob Iger's salary back in 2019. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she wrote:
"Let me be very clear. I like Bob Iger. I do NOT speak for my family but only for myself. Other than owning shares (not that many), I have no more say in what happens there than anyone else. But by any objective measure, a pay ratio over a thousand is insane."
It is worth noting that Abigail’s comments came after the massive ratio between Bob Iger and the average Disney worker was revealed. As per Fast Company, the former Disney CEO’s salary had increased 80 per cent that year.
Coming to Bob Iger's wife, Willow Bay, she is a former television journalist who has also served as the dean of a prominent university. While Willow’s exact net worth is not publicly available, over the years she has worked in several high-profile positions in the media, which has contributed to her wealth. Some of the networks she has worked for include CNN, ABC, and NBC. Notably, Willow’s college bio reads:

However, to everyone’s surprise, the duo pivoted and made an offer to buy the Los Angeles Lakers from Mark Walter instead. Mark had purchased a controlling interest in the team in 2025 from the Buss family. Now, claiming that they are lifelong NBA fans, Bob and Josh wrote in a joint statement:
“As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world. We have immense respect for the leadership and vision of Jerry and Jeanie Buss. Our long-term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level, and serve this extraordinary team, its fans, and the city of Los Angeles.”
