The film stars Nimisha Sajayan, Anshuman Pushkar and Barun Sobti in the lead roles. Nimisha is seen playing the role of the central character, 'ASI Babita Singh', also called 'Baby'. Amid the buzz surrounding the film’s release on the OTT platform, here’s how the movie ends.
What happens in Babita Singh Reporting?
The story of Babita Singh Reporting follows 'ASI Babita Singh', a.k.a. 'Baby'. She is suspended from her police job in Bhopal after she takes the blame for her senior officer, 'SI Sethi'. During this phase, she goes to her hometown, Rewa, to stay with her husband, 'Sharad', and his family. After she reaches there, her childhood friend, 'Bansi', is found dead. In order to use her free time, 'Baby' secretly takes up the case to investigate 'Bansi's' mysterious death.
The police who are originally in charge of 'Bansi's' death investigation quickly arrest a drug addict because 'Bansi's' blood was found on his shirt. However, 'Baby' is not convinced and thinks that the police did not properly investigate the case. Thus, she investigates secretly and discovers that the drug addict had fought with 'Bansi', and so he got 'Bansi's' blood on his shirt.
As 'Baby' investigates further, she discovers that 'Bansi' had met his childhood crush, 'Archana', before his death. He had also given her a large amount of money because she was being abused by her husband, 'Inspector Bharadwaj', over a dowry dispute. During the secret investigation, 'Baby' learns about problems involving his wife 'Rupa' and brother, 'Mangal'. There were arguments over their father's ancestral property.
'Baby's' focus on solving 'Bansi's' murder makes her distant from her husband, 'Sharad'. She also hides her investigation from 'Sharad'. However, when 'Sharad' gets to know about 'Baby's' secret investigation, he gets angry because she lies to him about what she is doing and puts herself in danger. He also believes that 'Baby' is neglecting their family. Thus, he asks her to quit her police job. But 'Baby' refuses to do so, as being a police officer is important to her.
Babita Singh Reporting ending explained
The biggest twist to 'Bansi's' case comes when it is revealed that he was not murdered. Initially, 'Baby' suspects many people, including 'Rupa' and 'Mangal'. But eventually she gets to know through CCTV footage that 'Bansi' was being threatened and blackmailed. As 'Baby' goes deeper into the case, she gets to know that 'Bansi' was extremely troubled by his family problems and the threats against him.
Later, 'Baby' understands that 'Bansi' died by suicide. So, there was no murderer. The people and circumstances around 'Bansi's' life had pushed him into severe depression. 'Baby's' secret investigation helps the drug addict who was wrongly arrested get released. After the successful investigation, 'Baby' is allowed to return to her police job. Meanwhile, she discovers that she is pregnant and expecting her baby with her husband, 'Sharad'.
However, 'Baby' leaves for Bhopal without 'Sharad', showing that their marital problems are still unresolved. At the Bhopal police station, 'Baby' finally reports 'SI Sethi' for making her take the blame for his mistake. From then, 'Baby' decides to continue being an honest and determined police officer.
