Azealia Banks Files TRO Against Ex-Manager, Seeks Protection For Family Amid Abuse Claims

However, recently she has been in the headlines for legal reasons. The famous rapper has filed for a restraining order against her ex-manager, alleging psychological and emotional abuse.
Azealia Banks files a TRO against her ex-manager
Azealia Banks has recently filed for a temporary restraining order against her ex-manager, claiming that he psychologically and emotionally abused her. However, he claimed that the abuse has not been recent; instead, it has lasted over a decade. According to TMZ, the filing, made on Monday, July 27, 2026 (ET), claims that Banks has alleged that she has been abused by Jeff Kwatinetz since 2014.
Azealia Banks further claimed that the abuse began when he allegedly got her to sign up for a life insurance policy when she was intoxicated. The musician has alleged that she never reviewed the policy and didn't get a chance to get it reviewed by her lawyer, and she wasn't even sure if her legal team knew about it. She further asserted that Jeff Kawtinetz won't tell her if the policy is still active or who benefits from it. The filing says:
"He gave me expensive red wine and put the policy in front of me when I was drunk, and we were cozied up."
Azealia Banks' filing seeks no contact and protection for her family
In the said filing, Azealia Banks described her relationship with Jeff Kwatinetz, alleging that she and her ex-manager were involved. The singer checked the box that said "we are dating or used to date," further adding in her declaration that they had an "intimate and very close relationship". She even accused Kwatinetz of mixing their personal relationship with his control over her career.
In the filing, Azealia Banks has also accused Jeff Kwatinetz of hiring a private security firm to "locate and profile" her, alleging they were "mapping" her home from the air. The singer has claimed that during this time she noticed some random occurrences at her home, including coming home to a "wide-open window," and "random unmarked cars" near her residence when she moved from state to state. She also alleged that he'd falsely accused her of trying to rob his house.
Azealia Banks' filing also claims that the most recent abuse happened in November 2025 when Jeff Kwatinetz tried to financially exploit, blackmail, and control her with coercive methods, which led to hindrances in her peace, while also alleging that he hasn't spoken to her directly in about 10 years. She further claimed that he demanded that she extend her recording contract and make more music to line his pockets, all while falsely telling the court that she refused to be deposed.
For the unversed, Jeff Kwatinetz initially sued Azealia Banks in 2020 for alleged extortion, with the ex-manager later moving for dismissal. However, he again accused Banks in 2021, filing another complaint for alleged stalking, defamation, and civil extortion, for which she was ultimately found liable. That's not all; in the current filing against Kwatinetz, the rapper has asked a judge for a stay-away and no-contact order. Additionally, she also asked for protection for her mom, sister, niece, and nephew, claiming that he may try to go through them to get to her.
Azealia Banks has also asked the judge to get Jeff Kwatinetz to disclose and cancel the life insurance in question, stop hiring people to monitor her, and allow her to appear remotely for any hearings. Banks has not alleged any physical abuse in her filing, but insisted that she suffered psychological and emotional abuse at the hands of Kwatinetz.
