During a recent event at the 53rd edition of the Film Festival of India, Asha Parekh talked about the struggles of yesteryear actresses’ due to a lack of basic amenities. Recalling how she would spend the entire day without going to the bathroom, Asha stated:

“It would have been great to see the same technical superiority in our era that we have now. For example, I remember there was no concept of facilities like vanity vans during our time. Back then when we went for shoots, the studios didn’t have bathrooms and we used to sit there the entire day without going to the bathroom. Thankfully, I didn’t have any kidney-related problems. Sometimes we even changed our clothes behind bushes.”

Asha Parekh remained unmarried throughout her life, and she once claimed that it was her reputation of being unapproachable because of which people were hesitant to ask her for marriage. Over the years, she has never shied away from addressing her love for her director, mentor and producer, Nasir Hussain and her decision to stay single throughout life.
