Aruna Irani and Kuku Kohli could not stand one another

Aruna and Kuku had met via mutual contacts in the movie industry. The actress could not stand Kuku, and they did not like one another. Aruna had shared that Kuku used to keep her waiting on set for hours, only for a single shot. During that time, Aruna was juggling multiple movies and other commitments. Their schedules conflicted, which led to frequent arguments between the duo. Aruna used to think that Kuku had issues with her, but something between them changed. Aruna Irani shared why she fell for a married Kuku Kohli

Aruna Irani once, in an interview on Lehren with Bharati S Pradhan, shared why she fell for a married man after coming out of a relationship like that with actor Mehmood. Aruna shared that sometimes one does not understand how someone enters a lane and then there is no looking back. The veteran actress shared that love feels like a "one-way lane". When an individual is alone and receives love from someone, or feels good with a person, they think only of the momentary happiness, without even realising the pain that follows. In her words:
"Kabhi kabhi aap woh galli mein ghus jaate ho. Kuch samajh nahi aata. One way galli hoti hai. Aap hatna bhi chaaho toh hat nahi sakte. Insaan kabhi akela hota hai aur kisi se kuch mann lag jaata hai na, toh you get carried away. Aaj aapko khushi milti hai na toh aap bhul jaate ho ke kal kaisa dukh hoga."
Aruna Irani did not discuss her married life with Kuku Kohli in public

Aruna Irani's fights slowly stopped as a point came in her and Kuku Kohli's lives when their feelings changed. Both realised that their friendship had soon turned into love. Both of them started spending time together. Aruna knew that Kuku was already married, as his wife and kids used to visit her movie sets.
Aruna had even refuted claims that she was unaware Kuku was married. She shared that she did not want to hurt his family; hence, she was quiet. She married Kuku at the age of 40 and liked to keep their relationship out of the media glare. The actress also revealed the reason behind not having kids with Kuku Kohli. She stated that her dad did not have a child with his first wife and that she is his second wife's daughter. Her father had told her not to address her as 'papa'in front of everyone. In her words:
"Woh mujhe pasand nahi tha. Mujhe aisa lagta tha. Ke mere bacche woh face nahi kare. Aaj kal toh shadi nahi bhi hui thi, tab bhi you can have a child. Neena Gupta ji ko dekh ke mujhe lagta hai yeh courage hai. I didn't have the courage. I didn't want my child to face anything. A child's mind goes through a lot. Bacche ke bagair mujhe chal jayega but I didn't want my kid to suffer."
Rest in peace Kuku Kohli.
