The collision occurred close to Guindy’s Kathipara flyover when the vehicle Ameen was in struck another car. He had a friend accompanying him. Both of them walked away with small injuries, and no one was seriously hurt. Ever since the news started trending, netizens have started looking for everything related to AR Ameen.
AR Ameen has also been active in the same field as his father
Allah Rakha Ameen, widely known as AR Ameen, was born on January 6, 2003, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is the son of AR Rahman and Saira Banu. Music has been part of his life from an early age, and he began appearing on stage and in recordings as a child.
Ameen’s first major playback appearance came in 2015 with Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani. At the age of 12, he performed the traditional piece Maula Wa Sallim for the film’s Tamil and Telugu versions. That project marked the start of his work as a playback singer across Indian languages.
AR Ameen later sang for the Telugu film Nirmala Convent in 2016 with the song Nenjukulle. His Hindi debut arrived in 2017 with Mard Maratha for the biopic Sachin: A Billion Dreams. The track was composed by his father and released when Ameen was 14. He also contributed vocals to the Tamil sci-fi film 2.0 in 2018 with Endhira Logathu Sundariye, and Tere Ishk Mein in 2025. Over the years, he has recorded in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, building a varied film discography.
Beyond film work, Ameen has regularly performed in live concerts worldwide alongside AR Rahman. These tours gave him exposure to large audiences and different musical settings early on. In 2019, while still in Class 11, he released his first independent single, Sago, in Tamil. The song was composed and co-produced by AR Rahman and came out through Sony Music as a non-film release.
In 2025, he collaborated with singer Jasleen Royal on Bheegi Bheegi, a composition by AR Rahman that featured actors Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur in the video. The track also served as the launch for Rooh Records, a new independent label started by Ameen along with his father AR Rahman and Warner Music India. Through this platform, he plans to put out more original music outside the film system.
AR Ameen has also contributed his vocals to the songs of other films like Dil Bechara, Atrangi Re, Pathu Thala, Maamannan, Ayalaan, Thug Life, Idli Kadai, and Peddi.
AR Ameen and his friend were hospitalized after the accident
AR Ameen met with a road accident in Chennai in the early hours on August 10, 2026. The incident took place in Guindy, near the Olympia Tech Park signal. Ameen was in a car with a friend when it crashed into a cab. Both of them suffered minor injuries and were shifted to Kauvery Hospital for treatment. They were later discharged and went back home.
The accident happened during the early morning hours. Ameen and his friend were driving towards Guindy when a cab that came in from a side road hit their vehicle. Both cars sustained damage in the crash. No serious injuries were reported for Ameen or his friend.
A passenger in the cab was also hurt. That person was taken to Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital for care and was later discharged as well. The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing is now handling the case. Police have seized both vehicles involved and are looking into how the collision occurred. More details are expected while an investigation has been launched into the matter.
