And now, Anurag Kashyap’s daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap turned a year older and has been receiving wishes from her loved ones. During his initial days in Mumbai, Anurag had met the notable film editor, Aarti Bajaj and had fallen madly-in-love with her. Anurag and Aarti were in a live-in relationship for some time and had embraced parenthood in 2001 with a daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap. Anurag and Aarti had tied the knot in 2003, but after four years of marital bliss, their relationship had fallen apart. They had separated in 2007 and were granted divorce in 2009. Despite the separation, Anurag had never let it affect his relationship with his daughter, Aaliyah and their respective social media handles are proof of the same.
On January 9, 2021, Aaliyah Kashyap turned 20 and her father, Anurag Kashyap wished her in the most adorable manner. He took to his IG handle and shared an adorable picture with Aaliyah, clung to her daddy. Along with the picture, Anurag wrote, “Happy 20th my baby @aaliyahkashyap pic courtesy @ishikamohanmotwane.” On his post, Aaliyah commented with an array of heart emoticons. Not just Anurag, but Aaliyah’s boyfriend, Shane Gregoire too wished his ‘Indian queen’ with an array of pictures and wrote, “Happy Birthday to my indian queen @aaliyahkashyap. Thank you for adding even more color to my life and being as weird as I am. Love you big girl… you are a very special person and I can’t wait to see what you do next. #cakemurder.”
As Anurag had turned 48 on September 10, 2020, his daughter had posted IG stories to wish him on his birthday. Aaliyah had posted a screenshot of her video call with Anurag on his birthday and had written, “Happy birthday papa. Love you and miss you so much” atop it. Sharing a childhood picture as her next IG story, Aaliyah had written, “See you soon hoepfully@anuragkashyap10” atop it. On December 23, 2020, Aaliyah Kashyap had taken to her Instagram stories and had shared a steamy lip-lock picture with her boyfriend, Shane Gregoire as they were all set to celebrate Christmas. In the picture, the couple had twinned in the shades of yellow and had looked nothing less than a match made-in-heaven. However, it was hard not to compliment the beautifully decorated Christmas tree behind them as it had made Aaliyah and Shane's romantic lip-lock moment more beautiful.
With the ongoing debate or rather war, in Bollywood on nepotism, Anurag Kashyap had voiced his opinion on the same when he was asked in an interview with NDTV about his reaction if his daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap expresses her wish to join the industry. Anurag had said, “She’s an adult, she has to choose, but definitely she has to learn. She can’t wake up one day and say ‘I want to be an actor’. If she wants to do it, she has to struggle for it and go and audition for it and win a role somewhere. I don’t think I write movies which are so urban where she will fit in.
