Anu Aggarwal is an unforgettable name in the Hindi film industry. Apart from her gorgeous looks, movie buffs, to date, cannot forget her noteworthy performance in her debut film, Aashiqui, which made her an overnight star and an instant female sensation in the world. But, unfortunately, her hard-earned fame was short-lived, as, within a year of her blockbuster debut, she met with a tragic accident, which not only left a deep physical and emotional scar but forced her to bid farewell to the glamour world.
However, this short period of her career was also tainted with many struggles primarily rooted in societal biases. From being judged for her dusky skin to questions about her personal life choices, Anu had to bear it all. And now, during a recent interview, Anu recalled many such instances.

The dusky-looking girl, Anu, won the hearts of millions of people with her tender smile. However, this did not come without a large share of tribulations she had to deal with because of her dusky skin tone. Recalling how someone tried to whiten her face during her modelling days in Paris, Anu mentioned:
“Unhone mujhe safed karne ki koshish kari mere shoot mein, I walked off the shoot… They said arre madam, voh set tayyar hai, sab log khade hain vahan pe, camera tayyar hai. I said Agar aapko gori ladki chahiye thi toh gori models hain na saari unko le lete, mujhe kyu liya? Agar aapne mujhe lia then accept me as I am. You can’t take me and try to make me fair. I got out. “

Further in the interview, Anu also shared how her unconventional choice of being in a live-in relationship had gotten a lot of objections from people surrounding her. She emphasised that in an industry where female actors were given steel glasses to drink whiskey from and smoking was only a privilege for the man, she seemed a misfit in the eyes of many. In her words:
“When I had a live in relationship, they said What?’ Matlab ki dharti paon ke neeche se nikal gayi They were shocked, shocked beyond belief that how can a girl do that? Bina shaadi kare ladke ke sath reh rahi hai?”
Well, we hope to see Anu Aggarwal grace the silver screens again!
