Born into a Kashmiri Pandit family on August 25, 1985, Ankur Warikoo attended Don Bosco School in New Delhi. After his schooling, Ankur earned his B.Sc in Physics from Hindu College, Delhi University. After his graduation, Ankur enrolled in an MS in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Michigan State University. He also enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Physics, which he later dropped. After returning from the US, Ankur went on to complete his MBA at the Indian School of Business and Finance.
After his education, Ankur joined a consulting firm, AT Kearney and worked in diverse sectors like real estate, media and entertainment. In 2010, he started his own venture, SecondShaadi.com. Another startup, which he co-founded was Gaadi.com. Later, Ankur joined Groupon as the founding CEO in India. In 2015, Ankur brought a major share of Groupon and began his startup, Nearbuy.com. In 2019, he left his position at Nearbuy and began his career as a content creator.

Ankur has co-founded startups like Nearbuy.com, Accentium Web, SeconShaadi.com, StudyNation.com, Taaza.com, and Gaadi.com. He was named in Fortune India’s 40 under 40 list. Apart from being a successful entrepreneur, Ankur is also a successful author. In 2021, he wrote, Do Epic Shit and in 2022, he published another bestseller, Get Epic Shit Done.
Ankur has widened his horizons and launched his YouTube channel, which currently has 3.91M subscribers. Just like Ankur Warikoo, his love story too is unconventional and unique. He has often been vocal about his love story with his soulmate, Ruchi Budhiraja. Ankur met Ruchi while studying in Hindu College, Delhi University, while she was a student of Miranda House. The two met on their University special bus.
Ankur and Ruchi are complete opposites. If he is calm and silent, she is the life of every party. When Ankur met Ruchi for the first time, he thought that she was way out of his league. They gradually began dating, but within a year, he had to move to the US for higher studies.
In a world where relationships are based on gifts and surprises, Ankur and Ruchi loved each other despite staying miles apart with just 30 minutes of call every week. In one of his blogs, Ankur revealed how he and Ruchi stayed together despite their long-distance relationship. Sharing details of the same, he penned:
“When I was in the US in 2002, none of this technology existed. Calling was expensive. I could only afford a 30 minute call once a week. So that was what it was. Every Thursday, I would call Ruchi on her landline. And we would talk for 30 minutes, through a calling card. Which meant there was no “speak to me for 5 minutes more”. In 30 minutes, the call would disconnect. So we were focused. We cherished those 30 minutes. It was all we had. So we didn’t engage in random chatter. That was the time we caught up on each other’s lives.”
Ankur Warikoo and Ruchi Budhiraja got married after seven years of dating and are leading the happiest life with their two children, Uzma and Vidur. Ruchi has a vast role in maintaining harmony in their relationship and Ankur often credits her for the same. Revealing how Ruchi has been the strongest force in his life, Ankur penned in his blog:
“I’ve learned so much from her. She taught me that happiness is a choice. One that we make every single day. Even during the toughest times in my life.”
