Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput used to work together in the television series, Pavitra Rishta. It was during this time when the two of them had started to bond with each other. They had eventually fallen in love while working together and had dated for six years. They were considered to be amongst the strongest couples in the telly world until 2016 when Ankita and Sushant parted their ways. However, for a long time, there was no clarity about the reasons behind their break-up. It was after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, that Ankita had opened up about her break-up with him when she was ferociously trolled in the repercussions of the late actor, Sushant’s demise.

Considering the number of years Ankita and Sushant had spent being in love, the actress was extremely traumatised on hearing the news of her ex-boyfriend’s death. In fact, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ankita Lokhande had spoken about how Sushant Singh Rajput’s death had affected her. She had revealed that for the first few days, she could not come to terms with the untoward loss in her life, while netizens were judging her for not instantly dedicating a post for Sushant on social media.
On June 3, 2021, Ankita took to her IG handle to share a post that had appeared to be an announcement of her taking a downright break from social media. Sharing the obscure post on Instagram, she wrote, “It's not a goodbye, it's a see you later." and she captioned it with a waving hand emoji. While Ankita hadn’t elaborated on the reasons behind her decision to take a step back from social media, many fans had drawn a connection to the one-year anniversary of Sushant Singh Rajput's death. Her post came in a couple of days after she had expressed heartbreaking when we entered the month of June. To her post, one person in the comments section had drawn attention to Ankita’s announcement coming in ‘exactly a year’ after Sushant’s last post on Instagram. Adding to this, he wrote, “I hope u post that same story in ur insta.” Others were curious to know why was Ankita Lokhande taking a break from social media.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s last post on Instagram was on June 3, 2020. His post was in remembrance of his late mother, Usha Singh. Sharing a collage of their pictures, he had written, “Blurred past evaporating from teardrops, Unending dreams carving an arc of smile, And a fleeting life, negotiating between the two.” When Sushant was 15-16 years old, his mother had passed away due to a panic attack. He was very close to his mother, and on losing her, he had faced a lot of anxiety issues. This post had given us a gist about how much he was missing his mother.
The deceased actor made his last appearance in the film Dil Bechara, which was released after his death in the year 2020 on Disney+ Hotstar. The movie ended with Sushant dying because of cancer, and this left us all in tears. A coincidence of the film and real-life was heartbreaking and shocking to all of us, and we cannot forget the emotions that were floating within us!
