Ankita Lokhande’s relationship with her ex-beau, late Sushant Singh Rajput was the most gossiped topic back in the day. The duo had crossed paths while working in the hit television serial, Pavitra Rishta, during which they eventually fell in love. However, destiny had other plans, and by the end of 2016, they parted ways. Fast forward to now, Ankita is happily married to the love of her life, Vicky Jain.
Right before entering Bigg Boss 17, Ankita Lokhande sat for an interview with Naved, where she opened up on the difficult phase of her life, post breakup with late Sushant Singh Rajput. She mentioned how it was not easy for her to move on from the past, since it was a long duration of togetherness that she had with her ex-beau. She added that for almost two and a half years, she couldn’t come out from the trauma of her breakup. Adding how things only changed when her now-husband, Vicky entered into her life, Ankita revealed:
“It was very difficult for me to move on post the break up as it was a very long relationship. It happens when one moves on and the other cannot. It took me almost two and half years to overcome that pain. I took my time and I couldn’t move on as I couldn’t imagine dating anyone else. I don’t remember what it was like as it was so painful and shocking. I never stopped believing in love and I manifested it. The moment I came out Vicky entered my life”

In the same revelation, Ankita added that when her hubby, Vicky entered into her life, she wasn’t sure of him being in her life, and added how she didn’t consider him nothing more than a friend. Moreover, she shared that for the longest time, she believed that Sushant would come back. Elaborating how Vicky directly proposed her for marriage, Ankita said:
“He was always my friend but I never saw him that way, in fact I used to talk to him and tell him that my ex will come back. I will wait for him and all. I don’t remember how it happened, he just came into my life and directly proposed to me for marriage and not for relationship and that time I decided this was it. I took me time to get into a relationship it wasn’t like I came out of one and went into another as it was very painful to get over and life changed post Vicky coming into my life.”
Sushant Singh Rajput’s sudden and traumatising death in 2020 had shocked many across the country, especially his family, friends and near ones. The situation was similar for his ex-ladylove, Ankita Lokhande, as she couldn’t fathom any of it. In a previous interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ankita recalled the time when she learnt about Sushant’s demise and mentioned how she didn’t know how to fathom such a heartbreaking news. Moreover, she revealed that she couldn’t post about his demise on social media, since it was impossible for her to easily forget the past.

In yet another of her earlier interactions with Bollywood Bubble, Ankita Lokhande had opened up about the matters of her heart and revealed that she never rejected love, despite parting ways with Sushant. She added that she never lost faith in love and still believed that someone would make her fall in love with him and fulfil her dreams. In her words:
“After whatever happened, and after two years, mera kabhi pyaar par se vishwas nahi utha. I was so confident that I am made for this. There is a guy for me who will come, who will fulfill my dreams, who will give me that wedding. Main kabhi pyaar ko reject nahi kar payi. I always had this feeling that yes there is someone for me. I think mera joh existence hai woh love hai. And that’s what I feel.”
