Senior TV journalist Anjana Om Kashyap needs no introduction as she has been gracing our TV set during prime time. But the popular journalist is currently leading the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The primetime anchor has garnered a lot of negative attention after she called online educators ‘big frauds'.
Anjana made the remarks on online educators during a live debate broadcast recently, as she went after YouTube teachers and stated that they are worthless and know nothing. By calling them ‘do kaudi ke’, Anjana said these educators only draw on blackboards not to educate but to ‘grab views, do drama, and make money from students’.

She also called these educators for making people believe in their wrong methods of teaching. She also stated that it is because of people like them that schools are not focusing on quality education and telling students to join coaching centres. It was Anjana’s crude language and expression that made the clip viral within moments.
As soon as the clip went viral, many YouTube educators reacted to the senior journalist's strongly worded negative statements on national television. Abhinay Sharma, better known as Abhinay Sir, the founder of the widely followed Abhinay Maths channel, was among the first to respond in public.

Sharing his direct response to Anjana, he asked if YouTube educators are worthless, then who exactly has been preparing millions of students for JEE, NEET, SSC and UPSC examinations over the past several years? Not just this, Abhinay also pointed out that in small towns and cities where expensive coaching institutes are simply not an option, YouTube education has served as the only credible alternative for competitive exam preparation.

Another YouTube educator, Suman mam, who teaches through the Ocean Gurukul's platform, shared her opinion on Anjana Om Kashyap’s brutal statements. Suman mam pointed out that she runs free marathon classes on YouTube for students who cannot afford coaching institutes. She also pointed out that a news anchor, who should be an icon to many, was calling her and her peers 'frauds' while sitting in an air-conditioned studio. She also highlighted the anchor’s desperate attempt to chase TRP rather than address real issues like paper leaks and student unemployment.
Patna-based popular YouTube educator, Khan Sir, also reacted to the controversy and called out the primetime journalist for her ruthless remarks. Khan Sir, who has millions of followers, is known for helping the underprivileged kids with his online coaching classes. Raising the term ‘do kaudi ke’ used for the educators, Khan sir said, ‘Shikshak ko keh rahi hai inko kuch nahi aata, to tum padhaao aake.’

Not just educators but students, too, voiced their opinions against the recent remarks made about educators. Students from Bihar, UP, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and other states where offline education remains scarce due to a lack of modern facilities also described how a particular YouTube teacher had helped them crack an exam.
Many students also pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when schools, colleges and coaching institutes were shut, YouTube educators kept hope alive and helped students prepare for competitive exams. Anjana’s words like ‘do kaudi ke’ ‘cheap’, ‘insignificant’ and ‘unworthy’ was not just disgraceful but hurtful too for the students as they felt that these online educators were the ones who changed their lives.
