Ranbir Kapoor's much-anticipated film, Animal is receiving good responses from the audience on the first day of its release. For the unversed, the movie is directed by Kabir Singh director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Apart from Ranbir, the movie features Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor in important roles. Rashmika plays the role of Ranbir Kapoor's wife in the movie. However, do you know that she was not the first choice for Animal? Yes! You read it right. Sandeep first chose another leading actress from Bollywood to act opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Read on to know who she is!
Rashmika Mandanna plays the role of 'Geetanjali Singh' in the movie, Animal. However, it was first supposed to be played by none other than Parineeti Chopra. Even back in 2021, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's directorial movie was announced with Parineeti's name attached to it. Although the actual reason for Parineeti backing out from Animal is not known yet, a report by Bollywood Hungama stated that the diva opted out of the movie because she had another project lined up. The report mentioned that Parineeti had to get into preparations for her next project, Amar Singh Chamkila, directed by Imtiaz Ali, and because of it, she couldn't be a part of Animal. The report can read as:
“She has to get into prep immediately for the shoot (of Chamkila), and unfortunately due to this development, she won’t be able to shoot for Animal as there is a major overlap of dates between the two films.”

Another report by M9 News stated that Sandeep chose Parineeti Chopra despite her low market value. However, during the trial shoot of the film, Sandeep found Parineeti unsuitable for the role and decided to replace her. Talking about the same in an interview with India Today, Parineeti said:
"These things happen, it is part and parcel of life. We must make such choices every day. You make the choice that is right for you.”
Talking about Rashmika's role in Animal at an event, Sandeep shared that in the movie, the actress is someone who understands the protagonist more than his parents. Sandeep also stated that Rashmika's role in the film is very important as well, and it will be present throughout the movie.
For the unversed, soon after the trailer of Animal was dropped, a certain section of netizens found out that Rashmika in the movie was talking in a different way, which even brought the actress a lot of flak. However, in a recent interview, director, Sandeep revealed the reason behind Rashmika speaking with clenched teeth in Animal. He said that the scene was emotional, and when people talk in that particular sentiment, they tend to speak with clenched teeth. Elaborating more on the same, Sandeep shared:
"Rashmika Mandanna was supposed to speak in a particular way because it is a very emotional scene. I knew there would be a certain reaction to it. When someone is feeling a certain emotion, then they speak with their teeth clenched. I think keeping it in the trailer has only given it multiple views. When you see it as part of the larger scene in the movie, it will make more sense."

There's no denying the fact that people had been eagerly waiting for Ranbir Kapoor's Animal to hit the silver screens for so long. However, if the reports are to be believed, the movie already grossed Rs. 34 crores at the pre-bookings, and it is expected to cross Rs. 100- Rs. 115 crores worldwide on the very first day of its release.
