As we mentioned, the incident occurred during a parade after the New York Knicks' NBA championship victory. In videos circulating on social media, Angie Baez, who was dressed in Knicks' apparel, appeared to be tipping the contents of a trash can onto the sidewalk before carrying the bin away. The footage had led to a wave of criticism online. Soon after this, JPMorgan Chase revealed that Angie was no longer employed at the company. A spokesperson for them shared during an interview, “This employee is no longer with the company.” Additionally, the New York City Department of Sanitation criticised Angie's conduct and said:
“Dumping trash onto the street and stealing public property for your own personal use are both illegal, antisocial behaviours, and not what New Yorkers do. On top of all that, doing both on camera is incredibly stupid.”
However, despite all the backlash that Angie faced, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) said that as of June 20, 2026, they have not received any formal complaints related to the incident. They also said that Angie has not been charged with any offence.
