The actress and comedian had initially dismissed divorce rumors in late 2025, only to confirm in December of the same year that she and her husband had decided to part ways. Now, in a new update, reports state that Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer have reached a divorce agreement.
Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer reached a divorce agreement months after filing for divorce
It has been eight months since Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer decided to part ways. A while ago, media reports confirmed that the former couple has managed to reach a divorce agreement. Amy and Chris had submitted their proposed divorce judgment to the New York Supreme Court on September 24, 2026.
While the judgment was signed by the court, it is now awaiting final processing by the County Clerk. The court also processed orders related to support for the duo’s 7-year-old son, Gene.
Amy Schumer confirmed her separation from Chris Fischer in December 2025 via an Instagram post. At the time, the 45-year-old clarified that things between them were amicable by writing:
“Blah blah blah, Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son.”
Amy urged people to respect their privacy as they navigated their separation. However, she did not shy away from addressing rumors that her breakup with Chris was the reason behind her changing figure. Amy, who has been going through a weight-loss journey, stated:
“Blah blah blah, not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket and not because he’s a hot James Beard award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
Fans initially thought that there was trouble in paradise when Amy Schumer gifted her estranged husband a 40th birthday cake that said, “I'm leaving you. This was the only way I could think to do it.” While it is unclear if Amy meant it as a joke, many think that there was at least a hint of truth to it when she announced her separation from Chris.
Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer continued to live together after their split
According to a report by Page Six, Amy and her estranged husband, Chris, continued to live together even after they decided to get a divorce. This was largely for the sake of their son, Gene. An insider told the outlet that the actress wished for Chris to be “super involved” in raising their son together. She wanted him to become a part of their child’s daily life.
According to Amy, co-parenting works best when both parents remain closely present for a child. The source added:
"She expects that they'll co-parent full-time together and that he'll see Gene almost as much as he does now, if not more. They are still largely under the same roof, for the kid's sake."
Another source revealed that Amy’s demanding career also played a major part in their decision to live together. While she is focusing on touring or extra work commitments, she expected Chris to remain there for their 7-year-old. However, the source made it clear that despite living together, Amy Schumer’s marriage to Chris had ended for real, and she had no interest in giving another chance to the marriage.
