Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most successful actors in the Hindi film industry. Even after being in the industry for so long, he still holds the same place in the hearts of his fans. The actor gained a lot of name and fame by working in blockbuster films like Sholay, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Don, Mard, Deewar, Silsila, Goodbye, Badla, Paa, Anand, Pink and many more. However, there was a time when Amitabh Bachchan went through a financial crisis in the 90s. And it was late entrepreneur, Dhirubhai Ambani, who offered help to the actor and brought light to his life.
Amitabh Bachchan went through an emotional turmoil in his life when his company, ABCL was in debt and his personal bank balance was reduced to 'zero'. However, it was late Dhirubhai Ambani who extended a hand of support to the actor and eased his problems. Recalling the same, during an event in 2017, Amitabh Bachchan gave a speech for Dhirubhai Ambani and shared an anecdote of how the latter stepped in and showed him his generosity by offering help.

In an old video shared by Bollywood Tehelka, Amitabh Bachchan could be seen recalling the lowest phase of his life. Talking about the same, the legendary actor mentioned that all his avenues were shut, and the government even raided his house. Elaborating more about it, Amitabh Bachchan stated that he was in huge debt after his company suffered losses. In his words:
"There was a phase in my life when I went bankrupt. The company I had built suffered losses, I had debts, my personal bank balance was zero. All my avenues to earn were shut, and the government had raided my house."
Further, Amitabh Bachchan recalled that after Dhirubhai Ambani learnt about his company suffering losses and getting bankrupt, the latter told his son, Anil Ambani, to give some money to the former. Amitabh Bachchan could be quoted as saying:
"Isha bura waqt hai, isey kuch paise de do."

In the same video, Amitabh Bachchan said that when Anil Ambani told him about the whole incident, he got emotional because of Dhirubhai Ambani's generosity. Amitabh Bachchan shared that although he got emotional, but he turned down Dhirubhai Ambani's offer. The actor mentioned that he slowly started getting work and was able to repay all his debts. Elaborating more about it, he said:
"Whatever he had to offer, all my financial troubles would have been solved. I got emotional at his generosity but turned it down. God was kind and after some tough days, the tide changed. I started getting work and slowly I could repay all my debts."
Further, in the same video, Amitabh Bachchan recalled that later, he was invited to the Ambani's residence for a special occasion. At the party, he met Dhirubhai Ambani, who was engaged in a coversation with the big personalities from the business world. Amitabh Bachchan mentioned that Dhirubhai asked him to sit with him, but the former was not comfortable there, but the latter insisted and made him sit.
Further, Amitabh Bachchan got emotional remembering how, in front of all the big names, Dhirubhai Ambani praised him. Talking about the same, the actor mentioned that Dhirubhai Ambani stated that he respects the former. Recalling Dhirubhai Ambani's gesture, the actor revealed that the former appreciated as how the actor bounced back on his feet after facing one of the most difficult phases of his life. Mentioning that Dhirubhai Ambani's words touched his heart, Amitabh Bachchan said:
"When he saw me, he called me and asked me to sit with him. I felt a little awkward. I told him that I am comfortable there with my friends but he insisted and made me sit. Then, in front of all the stalwarts, he said…Ye ladka gir gaya tha, lekin apne bal pe phir khada ho gaya, main iski izzat karta hu. His words and generosity was more valuable to me than the sum he had offered to help me come out of that crisis. This was his character."
