Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani have been hitting the headlines for quite some time now, ever since reports of troubles brewing in their marriage had surfaced. The duo, who got married on June 29, 2012 have finally confirmed having chosen separate paths in their lives. In a recent statement to a leading daily, Esha and Bharat called their separation a mutual and amicable choice, concerning the well-being of their daughters, Radhya and Miraya.
For the unversed, Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani were high-school sweethearts, and it was one inter-school competition event that sealed their lives together. Previously, in one of her candid interviews with a leading daily, Esha Deol had walked down the memory lane and revealed how after meeting Bharat for an inter-school dance event, she had sweetly passed on her phone number to him, written on a piece of a tissue paper. In her words:
“I was in Jamnabai Narsee School, and Bharat was studying at Learner’s Academy in Bandra. That was one school that had good-looking boys in Bandra. We met at the inter-school competition called Cascade which was hosted by my school. I wrote my phone number on a piece of tissue and gave it to him. I had braces back then. I always say he truly loved me with braces on. He found me cute.”

Continuing further in the interview, Esha Deol revealed how something as innocent as school love turned into something more mature between her and Bharat, the minute they turned 18. She added that they kept in touch all throughout college, and sadly lost connection only after she started off her career in films. Speaking along the same lines, Esha said:
“Talking was quite difficult back then. At the moment, it was innocence and admiration. That was beautiful. During college, we stayed in touch, and when I turned 18, my professional career officially started. That is when we lost our connection.”
However, that’s not the end to the beautiful saga. According to several reports, Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani met again as adults, courtesy of a planned rendezvous by the former’s sister, Ahana Deol. Ten years after their school life romance, Bharat and Esha met on latter’s vacation to the US. It was Ahana who informed Bharat of her sister’s whereabouts in the city and thereafter they met and finally rekindled their lost affection.

As reported by the Delhi Times, after months of speculation about troubles in their marital life, Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani have finally issued a joint statement, wherein they admitted having parted ways. Calling it a mutual and amicably-taken decision, the couple stated that they took such a huge decision keeping in mind the welfare of their daughters. The statement can be read as:
“We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Through this shift in our lives, the best interests and welfare of our two children is and will be of utmost importance to us. We’d appreciate our privacy is respected.”
