Former NFL All-Pro pass rusher, Aldon Smith untimely passed away on June 13, 2026, in Northern California. He was just 36 years old at the time of his death. His former team, the San Francisco 49ers confirmed his sudden passing through an official statement. Local reports noted that he was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital in San Jose. Aldon Smith's sudden demise left his friends, family and NFL acquaintances heartbroken. Amid the outpouring of grief at the tragic incident, unknown details of his final moments and last public appearance emerged.
As Aldon Smith's friend, Amir Shizari walked out of his Los Gatos house, he saw Aldon in his car, physically unwell. The former 49ers star was "slumped over in the front passenger seat of his white Chevy pickup" as per Amir's interview with the Chronicle. Aldon's friend allegedly thought that he was sleeping with his mouth open, but then realised that "something was wrong" with him. Amir thought that Aldon was possibly having "a seizure, and then maybe a massive heart attack." He claimed to have called 911 and summoned former 49ers running back, Anthony Dixon to the scene to assist him in CPR.

Then Aldon was reportedly rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, where he was pronounced dead an hour later. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation, according to Santa Clara County's chief medical examiner. Aldon's friend, Amir Shizari reportedly accompanied him in his final public activity, hours before his death, as per X user, @Coach_Yac. The onlookers reportedly noted that something about Aldon felt off at that time.

Scott Wagers, the co-founder of CHAM Deliverance Ministry (a local charity that feeds the homeless), took to X to share that Aldon Smith worked with him for a noble cause hours before his death. Aldon donated boxes of pizza to Scott Wagers' organisation. His friend, Amir Shizari, reportedly picked him up, and they delivered 10 Little Caesars pizzas to Scott. Scott was reportedly unaware that the NFL star would be there, and he was thrilled to meet him for the first time. Aldon "wore a throwback New York Knicks jersey (Willis Reed's No. 19), blue shorts and a pair of Air Jordan shoes," as per Amir.

Aldon, allegedly, even posed for some photos at CHAM Deliverance Ministry; however, he seemed visibly uncomfortable. Scott and the onlookers sensed that something was wrong with him as he looked very tired and physically unwell. Amir even recalled Scott asking Aldon Smith if he was all right and was up for a few pics. The ex-49ers star did not report any physical troubles back then, so they carried on with everything normally. After that, Amir drove Aldon back to his house.

Upon reaching Aldon's house, Amir went inside to "turn on some lights", leaving his friend in the car. When Amir returned to the vehicle, he found Aldon slumped over, and an hour later, he passed away at a hospital. Recalling Aldon's last public activity, Scott Wagers stated:
"HEARTBREAKING.. He [Aldon Smith] was with us today helping the homeless. I'm a die hard 49er fan. Today, I met Aldon Smith for the first time... he came out to help the homeless by bringing pizza. An hour later, my mutual friend Amir told me he had passed away. All I can say is that he died doing the Lord's work and when I talked with him I could feel humility, compassion and conviction. This is the last photo of him alive... RIP my brother."
