Drishyam: The Conclusion has created a huge buzz online. For the unversed, the final instalment of the Drishyam franchise was released on October 2, 2026. Ajay Devgn has returned as 'Vijay Salgaonkar'. While old rivals, including 'Meera Deshmukh' and 'Laxminant Gaitonde', have returned, this time 'Vijay' needs to be more careful with 'SP Rajveer Singh Tomar' (played by Jaideep Ahlawat). Amid the buzz, here’s how the crime thriller film ends.

What happens in Drishyam: The Conclusion? (Spoiler alert)

Drishyam: The Conclusion begins with 'Meera Deshmukh' (played by Tabu) trying to take her own life because she still cannot accept that her son, 'Sam', is dead while 'Vijay' is free. For those unaware, 'Vijay's' elder daughter, 'Anju', accidentally kills 'Sam' in Drishyam 1. Since then, 'Vijay' and his family have been hiding this truth from everyone. 'Vijay' has created a carefully planned alibi and hides 'Sam's' body beneath a police station under construction.

In Drishyam 2, 'Vijay' once again outsmarts everyone and is one step ahead, has planned for this possibility and manages to switch the remains before the DNA test. In the final instalment of Drishyam, 'Meera' seems to be mentally disturbed and wants only revenge. She still believes that 'Vijay' is responsible for her son’s death. But she does not have enough evidence to prove him guilty. While 'Meera' tries to take her life, her husband, 'Mahesh', saves her and promises to get justice for 'Sam'.

'Mahesh' approaches Crime Branch officer 'SP Rajveer Singh Tomar' and asks him to reopen the case. This time, the police have a new theory. They believe that 'Vijay' switched 'Sam's' body with another dead body just before the DNA test. With this cue, 'Rajveer' starts collecting evidence against 'Vijay'. He finds voice recordings from 'Vijay's' house from the day the body was supposedly switched. They believe 'Vijay' was away from his home on July 23, 2021, when the body switch supposedly happened.

'Rajveer' already has DNA evidence suggesting that 'Sam's' body was buried at the police station. However, instead of trying to prove 'Vijay' killed 'Sam', 'Rajveer' tries to prove that 'Vijay' secretly exchanged 'Sam's' body with another body before the DNA test. 'Meera' and 'Mahesh' hire Lawyer 'Indrajith Shetty', who pushes the police to use even the illegally obtained recordings against 'Vijay'.

During the investigation, 'Rajveer' finds out that the unidentified skeleton belongs to 'Christopher Pinto'. He finds 'Savio' in Kerala, the person responsible for looking after the grave. When the case involving 'Vijay' reaches court, 'Raghu' says that 'Vijay' was with him at the medical college on the night of July 23, 2021. However, 'Savio', who earlier agreed to share a statement against 'Vijay', mentioned in his note that the police forced him to give the earlier statement against 'Vijay'.

Drishyam: The Conclusion ending explained (Spoiler alert)

'Rajveer' argues that as 'Raghu' and 'Savio's' statements differ, they need to investigate further. He asks the court to permit him to dig up 'Christopher's' grave. With the court’s permission, 'Rajveer' and his team arrive at the cemetery. The excavation surprises everyone, as the skeletal remains are intact.

'Vijay' once again successfully outsmarts everyone. He suspected the police would definitely search 'Christopher's' grave. Thus, with 'Savio's' help, he had placed a skeleton dummy. He also made sure that the police did not take out the dummy for testing by spreading a rumour that the church would be demolished. Vijay also knew that his neighbours might be spying on him.

Thus, he secretly recorded his voice beforehand and played the recordings on the night of July 23, 2021, making it sound as though he was at home with his family. Due to conflicting evidence, the court finds reasonable doubt, clears the 'Salgaonkar' family of all charges, and closes the case permanently.
