Aishwarya Rai is one of the most talented actresses of her generation. For the unversed, Aishwarya and Shah Rukh Khan were slated to star together in a few films, including Chalte Chalte, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Veer Zaara. However, she was replaced in all of them without an explanation. Now, an old video of Aishwarya Rai, talking about being removed from five films, surfaced online, which raised many eyebrows.
Earlier, Aishwarya Rai appeared on Simi Garewal's show, Rendezvous With Simi Garewal, and a video of the same resurfaced on the internet. When the host referred to Shah Rukh Khan and asked Aishwarya, “You were working together in five films. Weren't you, Aish? Veer Zara was written for you." Talking about the same, the actress said that she was suddenly removed without an explanation and added:
“There were a couple of films that were supposed to happen with me. But suddenly they weren't happening, without any reason whatsoever. I have never had the answer to why.”

When Simi asked Aishwarya if she decided to exit from the films herself, the actress said that it wasn't her decision. She shared her feelings after being removed and said that she was taken aback and hurt when these films were taken away from her: In Aishwarya's words:
“No, it wasn't my decision. You obviously are taken aback, confused and of course hurt. You wonder about it.”
Simi further asked, “Did that experience change your outlook about the way things work in Bollywood?” Responding to it, Aishwarya shared that she understood that some people have the upper hand on other people and projects. Adding that such an incident happened to her also despite her apparent box office success and securing a position in the industry, Aishwarya mentioned:
“You become more aware of what you've heard about, like in terms of…situations, people having an dominos effect on another people or another projects. It became obvious that it can happen to me too…with all your apparent box office success or ‘secure positioning’ in the industry.”

In the same interview, Simi further asked Aishwarya if she had ever questioned Shah Rukh Khan for his decision. Responding to the same, the actress answered that she believes that if a person intends to explain their decision, they eventually would, and she never asks them for an explanation. She said:
“It’s not in my nature to. If a person feels a need to explain it, they will. If they never did, they never intend to. So, it's not in my nature to get into questioning what and why. Probably within myself, but I wouldn’t go up to a person and ask why. By the grace of God, I’m not defined by the other.”
