Earlier, in September 2025, she quit social media due to constant pressure to make posts and so on. Now, in a candid interview, Aishwarya opened up about an unheard facet of her personal life.
Aishwarya Lekshmi gets candid about taking therapy after a very hard breakup
In a recent interview with Rajini Haridas, the Gatta Kusthi 2 actress shared details about her mental health journey. She recalled going through weekly therapy sessions for a year after a very hard breakup. Aishwarya shared that her first attempt at therapy didn’t go well. She initially consulted a female therapist online and didn’t meet her in person. Aishwarya said:
"I was going through a very hard breakup. I met with a lady therapist, and all of this was online. I never went in person. My schedule wouldn’t allow. The way she was speaking was not working for me. So that’s also important; you need to meet the right person."

Aishwarya mentioned that she wanted a therapist who did not know her as an actress. She felt that if the therapist already knew her, it could compromise the therapeutic relationship. She also didn’t want the therapist to think that she would promote them. Aishwarya added that through a referral she met a male therapist whose approach aligned with how she processes her emotions. She stated that their connection was immediate. She said:
"I don’t want the therapist to know me, because I don’t want them to think I’d promote them. You can’t just find something like that. You would need a referral. I met this therapist, and he is too good. He’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever taken in my life. Since our thoughts aligned, he could help me out. I used to talk, and he would suggest, in any given situation, how I should draw boundaries."
Recalling the phase, Aishwarya shared that she took one session every week for a year. The Gatta Kusthi 2 actress mentioned that the therapy was expensive. She said, "It is expensive, and I really feel I’m better for it." Amid this, Aishwarya’s statement to quit social media resurfaced. Back in September 2025, the actress took to her Instagram Stories to announce that she was quitting social media.
Aishwarya explained that while she once believed that social media was important for her career, the constant need to engage with people online had drained her originality. She acknowledged the risk of being forgotten in today’s digital age, where being off social media is out of the mind. An excerpt from her long note can be read as:
"I'm taking the risk here to be forgotten, and in today's times, out of the 'gram is out of the mind. So here is me doing the right thing for the artist & the lil girl in me- keeping her original & choosing absolute internet obsoleteness. Here's hoping I create more meaningful connections & Cinema in life. And if I do end up making meaningful cinema, give me love - Old Style."
