The NFL quarterback revealed that Danica was depressed and was not fun to be around when they were dating. However, he didn’t leave her because he was trying to be there for her and be a good partner. Aaron added that there was a lack of intimacy in their relationship. He said:

"I dated Danica Patrick. She had just retired. She was depressed and not fun to be around, but I didn’t leave her because I was trying to be there and be a good partner. Then it was going a certain direction, obviously. There was no intimacy. There was nothing."

During the same conversation, Aaron shared that while he was planning to buy a house in Malibu, Danica asked him whether they could buy the house together. However, he said "no" to her. This made her assume something was off in their relationship, and thus she suggested couples counseling. The NFL quarterback shared that they did the counseling, but eventually they split in July 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Further, in the conversation, the 42-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback got candid about their breakup. Aaron said that while Danica shared that she felt blindsided by the breakup and that the NFL quarterback left her emotionally hurt, it was not true. He said, "She tells a story that, ‘I was so blindsided by getting left by you, and he leaves a trail of blood around.’ I’m like, what are you talking about? That is not what happened by any means."

Aaron Rodgers reveals he regrets not proposing to his now-wife, Brittani, when they first met

During the podcast, Not Just Football, Aaron revealed that he regrets not proposing to his now-wife, Brittani, when they first met in 2017. He then shared that due to this regret, he became emotionally troubled in his relationship with Danica. The NFL quarterback added that he became emotionally unavailable for several years because he was thinking about Brittani. He said:

"I was emotionally unavailable, I think, for those seven or eight years because I met the person that had changed my life. And after that, I just poured everything I had into football, and I think I got a lot out of that for sure. But I knew I was supposed to be with this one person, but we were separated by an ocean for a lot of it."

Aaron added that there was "zero intimacy" in his relationship with Danica. Earlier, in May 2024, during an appearance on The Sage Steele Show, the former NASCAR driver shared that her split from Aaron affected her very deeply. She said, "The breakup with Aaron in 2020. Because it was sudden, it felt like. It was my life. So, like, when you live with somebody, it's your whole life. And because the nature of the relationship was emotionally abusive, it wore me down to nothing."
