After two failed marriages with Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, the Bollywood veteran tied the knot for the third time with his ladylove, Gauri Spratt. They got hitched in an intimate ceremony in his Pali Hill home on July 5, 2026. As the duo legally registered their marriage in the presence of their respective kids, a curiosity was sparked in their blended family dynamics. Amid that, Aamir's firstborn, Junaid Khan, made comments about his love life, with a playful jab at his father.
Junaid Khan opened up about his bond with parents and made a rare comment on Aamir Khan's love life
Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta's first child, Junaid Khan is known for his easy-going nature, which he proved when he took a playful dig at his father's love life. During a conversation with Hauterrfly, Junaid was asked about his relationship with his parents after their divorce. In response to the question, the Loveyapa star said he was glad his parents were open-minded enough to keep in touch after their split.
Junaid felt lucky that his parents maintained an amicable relationship and were loving and caring towards him. He mentioned being touched by their constant support for him. Junaid also revealed that his bond with his parents was very chill (probably because he is the firstborn), and he can share just anything and everything with them. Junaid's exact words were:
"It's lovely, I have been very lucky to have such open parents as they are very encouraging and supportive in all aspects. So, that's great because I can talk to them about anything."
After that, Junaid was asked whether he was comfortable discussing his love life and accepting dating advice from his parents. In response, he made a light-hearted jab at his father, saying he would be the last person Junaid would think to take relationship advice from. He did not explain why he said that; however, fans at that time thought that it was a pointed jab at the Dangal star's multiple marriages and divorces. Junaid Khan further stated that he ignored Aamir's dating advice; the latter complained that his kids never listen to him. Aamir's son stated:
"Dad se relationship advice to main kabhi nehi lunga. I think that's why he keeps saying ki, 'Uske bacche uske suntehi nehi hai.'"
Why did Junaid Khan's parents get divorced?
Aamir and Reena decided to go their separate ways in 2002 after 16 years of togetherness and welcoming two children, Junaid and Ira Khan. It is worth noting that even after their marriage ended, neither Aamir nor Reena has revealed a specific reason for their divorce. Although some reports suggest their separation may have stemmed from temperamental differences and emotional distance, especially after Aamir began focusing more on his acting career.
Later, Aamir did open up about how his separation from Reena had affected him. He claimed that it was something traumatic for both of them and their families. In his words:
"Reena and I were married for 16 years. When we split up, it was traumatic for both of us and our families. We tried to deal with it as best as we could."
However, Aamir made it very clear that their divorce was not due to a lack of respect for each other. He also clarified that he and Reena did not lose the love that they had for each other post their split. In another interview, Aamir confessed that after he separated from Reena, he went through a difficult phase and had even started relying on alcohol a bit too much. The actor has often called this period one of the lowest points in his life.
