The incident took place on August 21, 2026, and involved an 18-year-old named Kunal Chandgude and his parents. In a shocking turn of events, Chandgude and his parents went up Khawadya Hill, and all three jumped off the cliff and passed away. It was Kunal who initially threatened to jump off while arguing with his parents, which was due to a smartphone.

Kunal jumped, and his parents followed him and jumped as well while trying to save him. Amid this, some reported that issues in his parents Muralidhar and Sangita's marital life also surfaced. Apparently, Muralidhar and Sangita lost their elder son a few years back as well. Now, a clip from the incident made rounds on social media, which featured Kunal's last words as he decided to end his life over a dispute about a smartphone.
In a new clip circulating on social media, Kunal was seen being urged by those around him not to take any drastic steps. Some people even offered him their own cell phones. One individual was heard saying, 'If an iPhone is what you need, then take it.' However, to Kunal, suicide was the only option. Before jumping off, Kunal reportedly said, 'suicide is the only option, and there's no other way out'.
According to the locals, Kunal was urged to abandon the idea that suicide would solve the issue. His mom also urged him, and despite several attempts by his parents to ask him to step back from the edge, Kunal did what he decided to do and died. Reportedly, following Kunal's drastic step to fall off the cliff, his father also followed him in an apparent attempt to save him.
The father also passed away, and, witnessing the same, the boy's mother also jumped off and died, as shared by police. To mention, it was not the first suicide attempt by Kunal. He reportedly attempted suicide last year as well, and he tried jumping off from the same cliff.
What happened between Kunal Chandgude's parents?
After his passing, history surrounding Kunal Chandgude's parents also surfaced. Apparently, the only reason for Kunal's drastic step was not the smartphone alone. Following his death, reports suggested that the fraught relationship between Kunal's parents after his brother's death could also contribute to Kunal's suicide at the age of 18. Reportedly, six years ago, Kunal's parents lost their elder son to a disease.
Following this, Kunal's father immersed himself in work and wouldn't even come home for several months. According to reports, two days before this incident, Kunal's father came home, and the dispute started. The 18-year-old bought a smartphone but was unable to pay the instalment. This led him to ask his father to pay the amount. His father, who worked as a driver, started fighting with his son, leading him to take the drastic step. While standing on the edge, Kunal could be heard saying:
"Mom, no one listens to me. I have no interest in living. There is no solution for my life; nothing is going to get better."
