One of the most essential parts of a Punjabi bride’s ensemble, chooda is something that gets every to-be married girl highly excited. It is a set of red and white bangles that is given to the bride-to-be by her maternal uncle. As per the traditions, the bride has to wear the chooda for at least 40 days after her wedding. But in most of the cases, the brides love it so much that they end up wearing it for an entire year.
In fact, our celeb brides too embrace it with much excitement. Here, have a look at some of the beautiful shots of Bollywood and telly world’s brides wearing chooda.

This beautiful Dahleez star married Splitsvilla 7 winner Mayank Gandhi on August 28, 2016 in a Gurudwara ceremony. The natural glow on this Punjabi kudi’s face was evident during her chooda ceremony.
She adorned a set of plain red bangles combined with embellished white ones as a part of her chooda, which we feel, was a subtle yet elegant choice.
The south Indian beauty married businessman Raj Kundra in 2009, in a lavish wedding ceremony. While she dressed up as a true blue south Indian bride, she beautifully mixed up two traditions by donning an exquisite chooda. It was a small set of plain red and white bangles which complemented her heavy outfit pretty well.
In yet another beautiful tale of “Bollywood meets Cricket”, actress Geeta Basra married Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh on October 29, 2015. The two got married as per Punjabi rituals and each function of their wedding celebration was absolutely a visual treat.
The pretty Punjabi bride, Geeta wore a beautiful chooda with a designer twist. She paired up plain red bangles with glittery white ones, and completed her chooda set with three broad bangles that had an intricate design on them.
The dimpled beauty, Preity Zinta surprised everyone as she tied the knot with Los Angeles-based businessman, Gene Goodenough in a secret ceremony in 2016. The bubbly actress adorned a simple chooda with a few plain red bangles teamed up with four bangles studded with white crystals. The actress wore it for full three months. She even shared a picture of her chooda when she removed it after three months. Here’s that picture:

Bollywood’s superstars Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s elder daughter, Esha Deol tied the knot with her childhood love Bharat Takhtani on June 29, 2012. Since Esha’s mother is a South Indian and her dad is a Punjabi, her wedding was a mix of cultures from both parts of the nation. Even her bridal attire reflected a beautiful mix of two cultures. She wore a Kanjeevaram saree on her wedding and to flaunt her Punjabi roots, she wore an elaborate chooda.
Beauty queen Dia Mirza married her long-time beau Sahil Sangha in October 2014, in Delhi. Dia’s father was a German, while her mother is a Bengali-Hindu. But, her parents separated when she was just four and later, her mother married a Hyderabadi-Muslim. Adding more cultural diversity to her life, she married Sahil, who is a Sikh by religion. The two had a simple wedding as per Arya Samaj rituals. Dia looked ravishing in a green lehenga which she teamed up with gorgeous jewellery pieces and not to miss, a minimal chooda!
The mast mast girl of Bollywood, Raveena Tandon married film distributor Anil Thadani in 2004. It was a destination wedding that took place in Jag Mandir, Udaipur, as per Punjabi rituals. She too opted for a minimal chooda design with a small set of red bangles teamed up with almost equal number of white ones.
Kashish from the hit television show Kahiin To Hoga, i.e., Aamna Sharif tied the knot with distributor-producer Amit Kapoor on December 27, 2013. This inter-faith wedding saw a beautiful mix of traditions, one of which was the chooda worn by the gorgeous bride. We totally loved the way she distributed three small sets of white bangles in between the red ones. Fuss-free and so elegant, isn’t it?

One of the cutest couples of telly world, Kishwer Merchant and Suyyash Rai married each other on December 16, 2016. While they had a court wedding, all other pre- and post-wedding functions took place as per their respective traditions. As Suyyash is Punjabi by origin, his dulhania wore a beautiful chooda set in all the celebrations post wedding.
Even after the wedding, she teamed up various trendy outfits with her chooda that gave all the newly-weds some serious fashion goals.
Telly world’s most fashionable couple, Vinny Arora and Dheeraj Dhoopar had a big fat Punjabi wedding on November 16, 2016. The couple’s chic outfits obviously caught everybody’s attention, but for us, it was Vinny’s oh-so-elegant chooda set that won the fashion game. She kept it simple by combining a few red bangles with just four broad white bangles on both the ends. The white bangles also had red dots on them.
And just like Kishwer Merchant, she too gave us some high-on-style post-wedding looks with chooda that any newly-wed would love to flaunt!
After a dating period of around five years, Saas Bina Sasural fame Aishwarya Sakhuja tied the knot with producer Rohit Nag on December 5, 2014, in Delhi. Aishwarya chose to wear a minimal chooda with around 10-12 red bangles teamed up with five white bangles each at both ends. In fact, there were two types of white bangles in her chooda- one included sleek bangles embedded with plain white crystals and the other design included slightly broader ones with red and green dots on them.
Swaragini fame Akanksha Chamola married famous television actor Gaurav Khanna on November 24, 2016 in Kanpur. Her chooda was slightly bigger one with red bangles equally distributed between three sets of white bangles.
Beintehaa fame actress Dimple Jhangiani tied the knot with a diamond merchant Sunny Asrani, on December 9, 2016. The chooda that she opted for was quite an interesting one. The set of dazzling white bangles had Dimple and her husband’s names on them.
On the whole, it was a beautiful combination of red and white bangles in 3-4 different styles.
Actor Kabir Bedi tied the knot with British-born TV producer and columnist Parveen Dusanj, on his 70th birthday in 2016. Despite having been based out of Britain, Parveen stuck to her desi roots when it came to her bridal attire. The two got married as per Indian rituals and Parveen even wore chooda for 40 days after the wedding.

Television actors Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta took the wedding vows on December 7, 2013. The bubbly Punjabi kudi Sargun wore a subtle chooda that had plain red bangles teamed up with fuss-free white bangles. Truly an inspiration for all those brides-to-be who want to nail their chooda look?

The ‘comedy queen’ of the Indian film and television industry, Bharti Singh, looked dazzling on her wedding in her elegant chooda design. Bharti tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend and script-writer, Haarsh Limbachiya on December 3, 2017, in Goa. She looked lovely in her single set chooda having a set of white bangles at the start and at the end. In an exclusive interview with us, Bharti said:

Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi fame couple Smriti Khanna and Gautam Gupta decided on forever on November 23, 2017. Smriti looked like an angel in her light pink and beige coloured lehenga. She completed her look with exquisite jewellery and a lovely pair of chooda. She opted for a proper traditional chooda in a single set.
Famous Bollywood singer Tulsi Kumar is one fashion junkie. She is not just a singer, but also the daughter of pre-eminent founder of the music label T-Series, Gulshan Kumar. The singer walked down the aisle with Hitesh Ralhan in the year 2015. She wore a lovely orange and golden combination lehenga and looked ravishing in it. What also added to her overall bridal appeal was her lovely red-coloured chooda. She chose double set chooda that had white bangles in between.
