Recently, Yami Gautam opened up about her love story with her husband and 'Dhurandhar' director, Aditya Dhar.
Popular filmmaker, Aditya Dhar is currently enjoying the success of his latest action thriller film, Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna. However, do you know, Aditya Dhar is married to Bollywood actress, Yami Gautam? Well, the two met while working on Uri: The Surgical Strike. Now, during a recent chat, the Haq actress opened up about her love story with the director.
Recently, Yami Gautam sat down for a candid conversation with the Humans Of Bombay, during which she opened up about her relationship with her husband, Aditya Dhar. She revealed that after meeting on the sets of Uri: The Surgical Strike, the duo bonded during the promotions of the film. Yami also revealed that there was no proposal between them. She was quoted as saying:
"I obviously met him while working on Uri, but it was during the promotion of the film when we ‘talked-talked’ because it was five of us promoting the film and each question would be passed on to everybody. There was no ‘I am going to propose to you’ kind of moment, no filmy things—which was the best thing because I am not that kind of person. We just knew we wanted to get married. Our families were extremely aligned and they were really happy for us."
Yami Gautam and Dhurandhar director, Aditya got married during the COVID-19 pandemic in an intimate wedding ceremony. For the unversed, the two got married in the mountains away from all the media attention. Talking about the same, Yami Gautam shared:
"I think we would have got married the way we did even if there was no COVID. For me, to have nature’s blessings in the hills meant everything. We wanted to make it more about the rituals than anything else. We love our culture and Hindu traditions, which are beautiful. I wanted to follow the rituals and look exactly the way I did at my wedding. I did my own makeup and hair—something I hadn’t imagined at all. I wanted to look exactly like my mom from the time she got married. There is nothing I would change about that moment."
During the same chat with Humans Of Bombay, the Kaabil actress also appreciated the director’s calm nature and how dedicated he is while working on sets. She mentioned that Aditya Dhar is one of the most respected directors and he always “commands and never demands”. Talking about his calm nature, the actress revealed:
"One of the most commendable things about Aditya is I have never seen him lose his cool. I still have no idea how he manages everything with that calm demeanour. He is extremely patient as a person and very solution-oriented, both as a director and in real life. Looking at all this even during Uri, I had a lot of respect for him."
Aditya Dhar is one of the most respected filmmakers of Indian cinema. He started working in the film industry as an assistant director on the film, Haider. Later, he made his powerful directorial debut with Uri: The Surgical Strike, starring Yami Gautam and Vicky Kaushal. Recently, he directed Ranveer Singh's film, Dhurandhar. His upcoming film, Dhurandhar 2 will hit the theatres in March 2026.
