Maternal Instinct, the new documentary on Netflix, has brought back the memories of Reagan Simmons-Hancock’s murder that happened in 2020. The crime was committed by a woman named Taylor Parker, who developed a close bond with Reagan after being approached by the latter to take a few photographs at her wedding in 2019. It was a matter of fetal abduction, and Taylor was convicted after a trial in 2022.
The murder incident and the individuals associated with it have become a topic of discussion once again after the premiere of the Netflix documentary on June 12, 2026. Before the murder incident happened, Taylor Parker was romantically linked to a man named Wade Griffin. However, the relationship was going through some problems. Taylor allegedly planned to save the relationship by claiming that she was expecting a child. Speaking on the Netflix documentary, McKenzie Bright, a friend of Taylor, stated that she was ready to do anything to keep Wade in her life.
McKenzie opened up a little bit more about Taylor, saying that she reportedly had a habit of easily integrating herself into the lives of those with whom she shared a close relationship. Moreover, Taylor also wanted attention frequently from men.
Taylor Parker was already a mother of two children from her past relationships. While she informed Wade Griffin in 2019 that she was expecting twins, Taylor later revealed to her boyfriend that she lost them in an unexpected accident. Things took a different turn when she asked Wade to purchase a few things for her, including two vehicles, and told him that she would return everything. The plan was to pay Wade through the USD 8 million inheritance that was supposed to land in the hands of Taylor.
Taylor and Wade eventually decided to purchase real estate worth USD 20 million. But all those who were close to the duo were worried for them after listening to their plan. In between all these, Taylor discovered that her inheritance was blocked by her mother. This seemingly put her relationship with Wade in trouble, following which Taylor told him again in January 2020 that she was expecting a child. Notably, Wade’s family started having doubts about Taylor, and they even addressed the same to him.
A few months later, Alex Wacasey, Taylor’s ex-husband, told Wade that his partner had a hysterectomy around five years ago in 2020. Although Wade confronted Taylor after speaking to Alex, she became frustrated and maintained her stand on the fact that she was going to have a baby. Taylor had previously organised a gender reveal party, telling everyone that she and Wade were supposed to become the parents of a daughter. Moreover, Taylor also covered the truth with the help of fake ultrasound pictures and medical records.
Taylor Parker first discovered Reagan Simmons-Hancock on social media. Notably, she also searched a phrase called “Where do pregnant women go?” before she found Reagan. Taylor found that Reagan was expecting a child in a few weeks. Taylor knew Reagan before she found her on social media, since she was hired by the latter for her engagement and wedding photoshoots.
In the Netflix documentary, Wade Griffin’s mother, Connie, recalled the time when Taylor’s baby did not arrive on the due date, saying that Taylor was completely silent about the child during that period. This is the period when Taylor committed the crime by entering Reagan’s house during the morning hours in October 2020. Taylor allegedly stabbed Reagan multiple times and cut her fetus with a scalpel to take the fetus.
Taylor was later discovered by the police on the road, and she told them that she needed an ambulance because the baby was not breathing. However, she was arrested when the doctor found that she was not the mother of the child. Taylor claimed after her arrest that Reagan was the one who told her to take the baby after they had fought. Reagan’s dead body was first found by her mother, Brookes, when she arrived at her daughter’s house.
