Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleIn a piece of tragic news, it was revealed that actress Bunny Levine has passed away. For those unaware, she was best known for her roles in Gilmore Girls and La La Land. According to reports, Bunny was 97 years old when she took her last breath. Her death has left many fans heartbroken. It has also left many wondering about the late actress’ personal life and family.
Bunny Levine was born on December 22, 1928, in the city of East Orange in New Jersey. Reports suggest that she had a sister whom she previously described as the "pretty one." Bunny became a source of entertainment for her family from a very young age. Later on, she went on to participate in school and local productions through the entirety of her elementary and high school years.
In college, Bunny Levine initially studied arts before switching to a different degree. The late actress graduated from college in 1951. After she graduated, Bunny decided to put a hold on her professional acting ambitions for nearly 25 years to focus on her children.
At that time, Bunny was already married to her husband, Bernard Levine. The duo had tied the knot on August 21, 1949. They used to live in married student housing and an apartment in Pullman, Washington. Bunny had called the move a "culture shock" because she had to leave behind her East Coast city life.
During their marriage, the couple welcomed three children, Marty, Francie, and Joe. He was the father-in-law of Judy Forrest Levine and Jay Lubin and a grandfather to Robin Emily Levine.
In his professional life, Bernard Levine was a Math Professor at William Paterson University in New Jersey. He has been described as an avid tennis player who was also a huge supporter of the arts, especially when it came to developing actors. This was evidenced by the fact that Bernard co-founded The Actors Connection in New York alongside his wife, Bunny.
Bernard passed away on February 22, 2003, following his battle with pancreatic cancer. After her husband's death, Bunny moved to Los Angeles to build her career in the entertainment industry. Being the remarkable person that she was, the late actress kept studying and working well into her 90s. She used to think of herself as agile, energetic, and a lifelong student of the art. During an interview, Bunny opened up about her time in the industry and said:
“Acting is always what I wanted to do, but it wasn’t practical. I don’t know if you’ve seen a picture of me, but I wasn’t a good young leading lady. I’m short and a little character-y. I wasn’t ugly, but I wasn’t beautiful either, so acting just wasn’t practical.”
As per reports, Bunny Levine died of natural causes at her home in Tarzana, California. It was her representative, Mike Eisenstadt, who confirmed the tragic news of her death. It is believed that police responded to a report of an unresponsive person and determined that the death appeared natural.
Before embarking on her acting career, Bunny Levine was a librarian and teacher for decades in Teaneck, New Jersey. After her death, Bunny’s obituary noted:
“In both careers, she inspired affection and admiration in her students and colleagues.”
Since Bunny set foot in the acting industry, she appeared on some of the most well-known television shows. This includes Everybody Loves Raymond, Law & Order, Criminal Minds, and 2 Broke Girls. Her film credits include You Don't Mess With the Zohan, My Bat Mitzvah, You Are So Not Invited, and many more. Bunny was last seen in the 2026 horror thriller The Cure.
Rest in peace, Bunny Levine.
