Pregnant Naziya Khan was found dead; her family accused her in-laws and husband of mental harassment
On August 21, 2026, Naziya, who was a government official, was found hanging in her home in Dwarka, Delhi. However, her family believes that she had suffered physical and mental harassment from her husband and in-laws. Naziya was an assistant section officer in the Defence Ministry.
Her parents stated that their daughter was beaten and abused by her husband, mother-in-law, Sameen Nisha and father-in-law Barbar Ali Khan. Her family was informed about her death at around 4 am of August 21, 2026. However, they questioned the circumstances and wondered if she was murdered and later the incident was staged as suicide.
Naziya's father, Tawab, claimed that her husabnd was responsible for her death and urged legal action against him and his family.. As per the police, the husband revealed that they had an argument before Naziya locked herself inside the room. He claimed that when he finally entered the room, he found her hanging from a window.
Her body was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for postmortem examination. Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the family. However, further action will depend on the post-mortem report, statements and evidence.The father of the deceased claimed that his daughter was three months pregnant, and her husband's behaviour was the same, and she kept complaining about him.
On the other hand, the husband claimed that when Naziya locked herself in the room, he called the landlord, who came to the balcony and helped him out using a ladder to enter the room. When he peeped inside through the window, he found her hanging from the ceiling fan with a chunni.
The case has a lot of similarities just like Twisha's case, who died by suicide at her marital home. Later, her lawyer-husband and her former judge mother-in-law were arrested in connection with the matter.
