Ahmed Al Ahmed has been declared as a 'hero' by the Australians. This is because he tackled the attacker at the Bondi Beach without thinking twice about his life.
Bondi Beach recently saw a father and a son open fire on a Hanukkah celebration, which reportedly killed at least 15 people. The armed men were Sajjid Akram, 50, and his son, Naveed, 24. However, the real hero during the attack there was a civilian named, Ahmed Al Ahmed, who was filmed. He tackled and disarmed an assailant during the shooting and has been praised as the real hero whose actions saved the lives of many. The death toll at the Bondi Beach shooting, which took place in Sydney, has risen to 15, according to the latest reports.
The massacre that took place on Sunday had also taken the life of a child, and the police had an underprepared response, according to a Daily Mail report. The massacre has been treated as an act of te**oism but the real hero who battled Naveed and Sajid was the brave civilian, Ahmed. Two gunmen opened fire on the pedestrian footbridge on an array of beachgoers, locals, and holidaymakers near the Campbell Parade. The attackers marched towards the Chanykah, where the Sea festival took place. With people being injured, amid the deafening bangs and the crowd panicking, it was Ahmed, the bystander, who came ahead and emerged as the hero.
When the attack on Bondi Beach took place, the cops had issued an urgent warning for folks in Bondi to take shelter. Within minutes, police cars and ambulances had reached the spot. However, before the cops arrived, Ahmed was the brave bystander who came in action, disarmed a gunman even before the cops came on the site. As seen in the viral videos, Ahmed was seen crouching behind a car, approaching the attacker. Ahmed was then seen tackling the attacker, disarming him, stealing his gun, and forcing him to surrender. The other attacker, reportedly was shot dead by the cops.
When at one end, chaos had erupted at the Bondi Beach, Ahmed had become like a messiah for the Jews and Australians out there. The clipping revealed Ahmed without arms approaching the attacker, who stood with a long rifle. He was seen wrestling to snatch the rifle away and pointed the weapon back at the attacker. It was on December 15, 2025, when Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese revealed the name of the brave civilian. The PM shared that Ahmed is aged 43, is a fruit show owner, and intervened in the attacker. Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, shared in a media statement:
“Ahmed al-Ahmed took the gun off that perpetrator at great risk to himself and suffered serious injury as a result of that, and is currently going through an operation today in hospital."
The gunman was seen losing his footing and went towards the bridge where the second attacker was there. Ahmed's presence of mind made the attacker drop his gun. Ahmed's relative, named Mustafa Azad, in an interview with the Australian TV news, 7News, revealed that Ahmed is in the hospital and was shot twice. Mustafa said:
“He’s in hospital, and we don’t know exactly what’s going on inside. We do hope he will be fine. He’s a hero, 100 percent.”
Ahmed's relative, named Mustafa Azad, earlier in an interview with Al Araby TV network shared that Ahmed originally is an Australian citizen of Syrian origin. Ahmed is from Idilib, located in Syria, from Nayrab village. The relative described Ahmed as someone who would not think twice to step in and stop suffering and death. The relative shared that Ahmed could not see people dying and said he did a humanitarian action. For the parents of Ahmed, a fruit shop owner, their son is the real hero. Ahmed's parents came to Australia from Sydney after being separated from their son, who had come to Australia in 2006.
Ahmed is a father of two young daughters, aged three and six, respectively.
Ahmed's parents, Mohamed Fateh Al Ahmed and Malakeh Hasan Al Ahmed, had revealed in an interview with ABC that their son had been hit by four to five bullets. Apart from that several others were lodged inside his body. Ahmed's mother had kept beating herself up and crying when she heard the news of her son being shot in an accident. Speaking about her heroic son, Ahmed's mom said:
"He saw they were dying, and people were losing their lives, and when that guy [the shooter] ran out of ammo, he took it from him, but he was hit. We pray that God saves him."
