Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleSydney Sweeney is not backing out of her ad campaign for the sports prediction platform, Novig. Despite receiving severe criticism, she is back with a new ad, which was released on October 11, 2026. However, she has given it her own unique twist by poking fun at men tracking the color of her underwear before mentioning the sports-focused platform.
Sydney Sweeney is back with a new ad commercial. But instead of simply continuing with the ad campaign, she has addressed the unusual attention on her appearance. The actress wore white underwear for the ad featuring the Novig logo, as she said:
"There are grown men making spreadsheets to bet on what color underwear I'm wearing. I mean, I'm flattered?"
Apart from the remark, the actress also commented about the platform's focus on sporting events. She then discussed the difference between the bets on personal details and major global events with the company's sports-only approach.
Sydney also mentioned that some people bet their retirement savings on a war, but some people only trade on sports. The commercial ends with the actress covering her chest with two footballs and conveying the brand's central idea. In her words:
"Novig is... just sports."
The advertisement also continues to mention the actress's partnership with Novig. For those who don't know, Sydney had announced that she is the strategic partner and an equity holder in the company in September 2026. Therefore, her collaboration with the brand is more than a regular celebrity endorsement. However, the exact size of her ownership is not disclosed.
The latest advertisement comes after Sydney Sweeney and Novig received massive criticism for the brand's previous Just Sports campaign. In the campaign, the actress posed nude while using different sports equipment to cover herself. Although the campaign got massive attention, many critics argued that its visuals sexualized women. In turn, it overlooked their achievement in sports.
Ariarne Titmus, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, also shared her frustration with the campaign. She questioned why women's bodies have continued to be used to attract attention and get revenue. Similarly, British Sprinter Amy Hunt also called out the imagery in the ad. She pointed out that women's sports involve physical strength, hard work, and dedication, not just appearance.
Some other athletes also joined the debate by sharing videos where they competed at one of the other events. For example, Gymnast Gracie Kramer posted a video of herself competing and wrote, "This is what a woman in sport looks like." Meanwhile, Sharon Stone also called out the campaign and argued that women's sports should not be reduced to attract male attention.
Sydney Sweeney did not issue any apology over the controversy. Instead, she shared images of female athletes, such as Serena Williams, Ronda Rousey, and Megan Rapinoe. They had previously posed nude for ESPN's The Body Issue. So, it was an indirect way to point out the double standards around nudity in sports-related media.
In fact, the debate also got a response from another popular brand. Powerade started an ad campaign in New York's Times Square with the slogan, "Never Just Sports." Amid all this, reports suggest that Novig has witnessed a sharp rise in new depositors and online engagement.
Outside of the whole advertising controversy, Sydney Sweeney's personal life has also received a lot of attention in the past year. She is dating music executive Scooter Braun. They reportedly first met in 2025 at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding.
Soon rumors began linking the two. Eventually, they made their romance official by sharing photos together from Coachella. However, Sydney and Scooter have kept the details about their relationship private.
Before Scooter Braun, Sydney Sweeney was in a long-term relationship with businessman Jonathan Davino. They began dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2022. Jonathan also worked with the actress as a producing partner through her production company, Fifty-Fifty-Fifty films. But the relationship ended in March 2025.
