The OB-GYN, who reportedly met Patrick after the murder of his three children with Lindsay, called him "the most selfless father" and a "supportive partner" in the interview.
This marks Rachel's very first televised interview with Patrick since their relationship came under public scrutiny during Lindsay Clancy's trial. Her remarks quickly drew reactions on social media, with some users questioning how she could make such a claim about Patrick's role as a father to his three children, when she met him only after they died in 2023.
In a preview of the couple’s joint interview with 60 Minutes, Rachel pushed back against what she described as a distorted account of their relationship, saying she hoped people would understand the kind of person Patrick, or 'Pat', is. She can be heard saying:
"I don't understand how the story's been so twisted. But I would hope people know that Pat is, as I said before, the most selfless father and supportive partner."
Rachel and Patrick reportedly met in New York City and married in April 2026. Danis, 37, is a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist. Their relationship became a subject of public discussion while Patrick’s former wife, Lindsay Clancy, stood trial in connection with the deaths of their three children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan.
Several viewers challenged Danis’ description of Patrick as a selfless father, asking whether she had known him when he was raising his children. Reacting to a clip of the interview shared on X, one user wrote, "How does she know what kind of father he was? Let me guess......Patrick said?" Another commented, “How the hell would she know if he is a selfless father? Has she ever spent time with him with his children????”
Some users also brought up reports and claims about Patrick’s life around the time of the tragedy, including his relationship with Lindsay Clancy and his activities after the children's deaths. One commenter referenced reports about a ski trip and Lindsay’s mental health treatment, questioning Danis’ description of Patrick as a supportive partner.
Another wrote that Patrick had reportedly described his children as "exhausting" at their funeral and criticized his parenting, while also making clear that they were not alleging he had a role in the killings. The user remarked:
"Rachel…why you lying? He called his kids exhausting at their funeral. He regularly went skiing and brunching with his friends. Then he left those precious babies with a woman who said she had thoughts of harming them and they’re all gone now. Father of the year!!"
Addressing the scrutiny and conspiracy theories surrounding their relationship, Rachel said that it was being widely misrepresented online. She told 60 Minutes:
"I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
Lindsay's trial ended in a mistrial on September 4, 2026, after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will seek a retrial.
During the 60 Minutes interview, Patrick also spoke about his grief and how he continues to feel connected to his children. Upon being asked whether he still talks to them, he replied, "I talk to them... Help me... All the time." When interviewer Ross Douthat asked whether he believed they helped him, Patrick said, "I like to believe they do. It's a way I stay connected to them."
The full interview with Patrick and Danis is scheduled to air Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and Paramount+.
