Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleShweta Tiwari, one of Indian television's biggest names, has not been very lucky in love. Two of her marriages ended up in heartbreak and left her children with lifelong trauma. Her first husband, Raja Chaudhary recently grabbed attention after he made explosive allegations against his ex-wife and opened up about his strained relations with his daughter. He accused ex-wife Shweta of having affairs with multiple men and said that daughter Palak Tiwari didn't have any contact with him.
Raja further mentioned having blocked both Shweta and Palak. Amid his claims that their daughter doesn't consider him her father, Palak's reaction to his alleged improper behaviour towards her mother resurfaced.
Shweta Tiwari has had a hard life raising her two children, Palak Tiwari and Reyansh Kohli amid a hostile environment while subsequently balancing her career. The actress reportedly faced domestic abuse in both her marriages with Raja Chaudhary and Abhinav Kohli. When she split from Raja in 2007, Palak was just seven years old. Years after the relationship ended, Shweta opened up in a 2022 interview about Palak's reaction to her father's past actions.
Even though Palak Tiwari was quite young when Shweta was allegedly abused by Raja Chaudhary, she was not entirely unaware of what was going on. In the 2022 interview, Shweta revealed that her first husband often hit her in front of little Palak, and he later even levied several false allegations against her.
Sharing their daughter's reaction to the violence in their household, Shweta revealed that it left a deep scar in Palak's heart. Witnessing her father's improper behaviour at such a young age was absolutely horrific for the Bijlee Bijlee star.
In the same interview, Shweta Tiwari also revealed that she faced a major financial and emotional setback after her divorce from Raja Chaudhary. The actress mentioned her ex-husband picked a Mumbai flat over their daughter. The property was a one-bedroom flat in Mumbai's Malad area as part of the settlement following their divorce. The property was reportedly worth around Rs. 93 lakh at that time and was jointly owned by the former couple.
The report claimed that Shweta Tiwari's legal team had initially proposed that the Malad flat be jointly owned by Raja and their daughter, Palak Tiwari. However, Raja allegedly refused the arrangement and demanded to be its sole owner. The decision reportedly hurt Shweta as she felt that her former partner's love for his daughter was less than his want for money. Initially, Shweta was hesitant about the transfer of ownership; however, the actress eventually gave in.
Shweta Tiwari agreed to hand over the Mumbai flat to him so that the long and emotionally exhausting divorce process could be concluded. The decision was a huge step in an already tender situation. Shweta revealed that she had faced several emotional challenges that kept her from ending the marriage despite being financially independent. Recently, in a July 2026 conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Raja Chaudhary finally revealed the reason behind his decision.
As per Raja, during his 2007-2012 divorce row, he was embroiled in many other controversies and cases, due to which he had difficulty in finding a place to rent. He also alleged that the flat in question was bought by his father for Rs. 9 lakhs when he married Shweta. Fed up with the constant tiffs, court hearings, and dates, Raja decided to settle the matter by accepting the flat. In his words:
"Maine kaha yeh wala flat tu dede aur tu rakh bhaiya apna samrajya, apne bacche, jo bhi tujhe chahiye. Meri life se tum…mujhe shanti do yaar."
