The Kardashians' latest episode in October 2026 revolved around Kim Kardashian's latest health scare. The SKIMS founder revealed that she had been diagnosed with esophagitis. It is a condition that leads to inflammation of the lining of the esophagus. These health problems surfaced around the time when she was filming the Netflix comedy, The Fifth Wheel in Las Vegas.
Kim began to experience severe throat pain, headaches, and fatigue that made her seek medical advice. After carefully reviewing the images of her esophagus, her doctor confirmed that she had inflammation. In turn, the medical practitioner suggested some medication and a scoping procedure to examine the area from a closer angle. Initially, Kim kept the diagnosis private due to its connection to her father's illness.
She admitted that the situation was difficult to process, and she did not want to revisit the painful memories of losing her father to esophageal cancer. The reality TV star also hoped the medication would resolve the problem without more complications.
However, a preview of the following episode showed that Kim was being wheeled through a hospital in a medical gown. She told her mother, Kris Jenner, that doctors had found irregularities during the procedures that needed to be removed through surgery. The news left their family worried, especially due to the family history with esophageal cancer. Although esophagitis is not cancer, Kim's condition required more investigation, which concerned everyone.
For those who don't know, the Kardashians' fears are closely linked to the death of her father, Robert Kardashian Sr. He was a popular attorney who died at 59 on September 30, 2003. Notably, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer just weeks before his death. In turn, his family was unprepared for the sudden loss.
The sudden progression of his illness had deeply affected Kim and her siblings. Khloe Kardashian later recalled how quickly their father's condition declined, making it difficult to understand its seriousness. Kim, who was 22 when her father died, once recalled his final words to her; he said:
"I know you're going to be good, I can see it."

Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health in his memory in 2019. It supported more research and awareness around esophageal diseases. Lastly, it also revisits Kris Jenner's past affair that led to the end of her marriage to Robert Kardashian.
