For the uninitiated, in a recent conversation, the Armchair Expert host’s wife, Kristen Bell, revealed the unique ways in which her husband, Dax, flirts with her. The couple has been married for 13 years, but they seemed to be still in the honeymoon phase. Amid this, Dax shared a rare insight into his past intense romance with Kate Hudson during the latest episode of his Armchair Expert podcast.
Dax Shepard gets candid about his past romance with Kate Hudson
Sara and Erin Foster joined Dax Shepard during the latest episode of his Armchair Expert podcast. During the conversation with the guests, Dax recalled how he met American actress Kate Hudson through her brother, Oliver Hudson. The host said that it all started as a friendship, and later, turned into a passionate romance. Recalling how he had hit on Kate when she was still married to Chris Robinson, Dax said that he gave '111 percent of charm' that he had to Kate.
The Armchair Expert host described the actress as an absolute beauty. He shared that he loved Kate’s movies and expressed his excitement after seeing her. He added that at first glance he had a huge crush on her. He said:
"I just thought she was so f***ing beautiful, and I love her movie Almost Famous, and, oh my God, I can’t believe she’s here. I remember leaving the event going like, 'Well, this is as good a job as one can do.' She’s married, who cares, but that was a great first showing. I just had a crush on her."
In 2006, Kate and Chris called it quits. The Armchair Expert host didn’t lose this opportunity and tried to woo her again at a mutual friend’s dinner party. He shared that since then they were together. They were making out all day long. Sharing a rare glimpse into their brief passionate romance, Dax said:
"From that night on, we were just together every single day. We were making out, f***ing all day long."
It was not the first time Dax opened up about his past romance with Kate. Previously, during a 2019 episode of his podcast, Armchair Expert, Dax shared that their romance was a memorable, wonderful, and fun experience. Kate stated that they were super compatible and had a lot of fun together and laughed constantly. However, despite their intense chemistry, they eventually realized that they were at different stages of their lives.
At the time, the Armchair Expert host felt insecure about his career, while Kate was experiencing professional success and was not ready to fully commit to a relationship. Shepard explained that back then several of his films had failed to perform well, and he was uncertain about what would happen next in his career. Meanwhile, the American actress was earning more money than ever before and receiving many professional opportunities. Dax admitted that he felt inferior to her.
Shepard also felt uncomfortable following Kate around and watching her achieve things he wished he could achieve himself. Kate joined in and said that she was not giving the Armchair Expert host what he needed emotionally because she was making decisions that did not prioritize their relationship. She added that their romance became intense very quickly, but at the time, she was not emotionally ready for the commitment and responsibilities of a serious relationship.
After the breakup, Shepard went on to marry Kristen Bell in 2013, while Kate dated Matt Bellamy from 2010 to 2014. Later, Kate got engaged to Danny Fujikawa. According to reports, Danny and Kate exchanged rings in September 2021.
