Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleFriendships, drama, and career ambitions collided in Hulu's latest reality obsession, Million Dollar Nannies. While the series followed a group of elite childcare experts launching a luxury nanny agency in Ibiza, one friendship breakdown has ended up becoming the season's biggest talking point.
Now, months after filming wrapped, fans are still asking the same question: are Leah Barrs and Sydney Siegel still friends after the betrayal that rocked the show?
It all began when Leah Barrs, Kourtney Kardashian’s ex-nanny and founder of the nanny agency Select Clients, found herself at the centre of an explosive scandal. Her employers, the wealthy Guiribitey family, learned that she had previously been involved with the father of a child she once cared for. The revelation ultimately cost Leah her job with the family, infamously known on the show as "The Gs."
Things took an even more dramatic turn when the Guiribiteys later invited Sydney Siegel, Leah's close friend and colleague, to accompany them to Paris during Fashion Week. Sydney accepted the opportunity, leaving Leah feeling blindsided and betrayed. By the season finale, the once-close friends were barely on speaking terms.
Well, given the major betrayal from one of Leah's closest friends, the NannyTok stars had a huge fallout, and the heat hasn’t subsided yet. Speaking after the show's premiere, Leah admitted that her friendship with Sydney remains fractured and that the two have yet to have a meaningful conversation about what happened. In an interview with TV Insider, Leah admitted:
“We don’t really stand as friends right now, I guess you could say. I’m willing to hear her out. We haven’t really had the conversation yet. I’m willing to hear her out, but I don’t think everyone deserves a seat at the table after that.”
While Leah is open to hearing Sydney's side of the story, she still struggles to understand her decision. She explained that accepting a job from the very family that had fired her felt like a personal betrayal, especially given their friendship. But she hasn't completely closed the door on reconciliation. In her words:
“I think we’ll both get to see each other’s side a bit more [on the show]. Maybe I just don’t understand exactly why she did what she did, especially … just as a friend, I don’t think I would do that. I think she went about it the wrong way. So I’m open to hearing her out and having that conversation, and maybe I can understand a little more.”
Since the series was filmed months before it aired, Leah believes that seeing the events unfold on screen may help both women better understand each other's perspectives. For now, however, their friendship remains firmly on pause.
Leah's past relationship scandal quickly became a concern for the rest of the nanny agency, with cast members worrying that it could damage their reputation and future business plans. The show’s co-star, Mitchell Bienvenue, shared that the group initially focused on gathering all the facts before passing judgment on either Leah or Sydney. Once they understood the situation, they have remained focused on protecting the agency from further complications arising from the scandal.
While her friendship with Sydney remains uncertain, Leah has maintained strong connections with several cast members. One of her closest bonds is with fellow nanny, Liv McMahon. In fact, their friendship has become so strong that Liv has since moved to Los Angeles and now lives with Leah. Meanwhile, Sydney reportedly continued working with the Guiribitey family and eventually took on a full-time role with them. Whether she and Leah eventually reconcile remains one of the biggest unanswered questions following Season 1.
Reality TV has seen plenty of broken friendships repaired over time, and Leah hasn't ruled out that possibility. While she made it clear that Sydney's actions damaged trust, she also acknowledged that she remains open to a conversation.
For now, though, Million Dollar Nannies fans shouldn't expect a friendship reunion anytime soon.
