Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleJustin Baldoni has finally broken his prolonged silence about his high-profile legal battle with his It Ends With Us co-star, Blake Lively, after the matter reached a formal settlement. The legal drama officially came to a close on May 4, 2026, just before the trial was set to begin.
In an emotional Instagram video shared on July 8, 2026, the Jane the Virgin actor and filmmaker reflected on nearly two years of staying quiet despite widespread speculation and public criticism. The experience, though 'traumatic', brought him and his wife, Emily Baldoni, closer than ever.
The couple shared a joint Instagram video in which they reflected on Baldoni's prolonged silence throughout the highly publicized legal battle with Blake Lively. In the nearly five-minute message, Baldoni explained that he had deliberately chosen not to speak publicly while the case was ongoing, waiting until the legal process had run its course. The actor-director said:
"We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say. Because lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just didn’t feel like the right time, and we were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it." After months of prayer and reflection, Emily Baldoni says, "This feels like the moment," adding that they have "so much to say."
The feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni started on and after the set of It Ends With Us (2024), an adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel. In December 2024, Lively sued Baldoni and others connected to the film, alleging sexual harassment, workplace retaliation and a smear campaign against her character during the publicity for the movie.
Baldoni denied the allegations and filed a USD 400 million countersuit against Lively, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, publicist Leslie Sloane and others, alleging defamation and related claims. In June 2026, a federal judge dismissed Baldoni's countersuit.
The two were scheduled for a trial on May 18, 2026, but days before the trial, both parties reached a settlement. Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, called the outcome a "total victory," arguing that Lively voluntarily dismissed her remaining claims without Wayfarer Studios paying any portion of the USD 300 million in damages she had sought.
Reflecting on the painful ordeal, Emily Baldoni shared her own views in the new video. Without mentioning Blake Lively by name, Emily said gratitude had helped them survive the difficult period but did not erase what they experienced. She noted:
"Our gratitude doesn't negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years. ... The truth and the facts have spoken for themselves."
While Baldoni hinted there is "so much more to say," he made it clear that now is not the time. Instead, he and Emily plan to focus on raising their children and moving forward together.

Blake Lively still seeks nearly USD 8 million in attorney fees and legal expenses, but the matter remains to be ruled on in court.
