Dharmendra has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan. Amid that, his wife, Hema Malini shared a post expressing her pride towards her late husband.
Bollywood's 'He-Man', Dharmendra is continuing to win hearts even after his tragic death. For the unversed, the Ikkis actor passed away on November 24, 2025, leaving his fans heartbroken. However, the veteran actor has been honoured with Padma Vibhushan. The Padma Awards for 2026 were announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 25, 2026. Well now, Dharmendra's wife, Hema Malini has reacted to the same.
A few hours ago, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the winners of Padma Awards. However, what caught everybody’s attention was that Dharmendra was also awarded with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan. Soon after the announcement, actress, Hema Malini took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle to express her pride on the same. Her note can be read as:
"So so proud that the govt has recognised Dharam ji’s immense contribution to the film industry by bestowing on him the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award."
Hema Malini and Dharmendra are one of the most loved couples of Bollywood. For those who do not know, the two first met on the sets of the film, Tum Haseen Main Jawaan. Their off-screen chemistry soon turned into a real life one when they fell in love with each other. However, it is worth mentioning that Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur at that time.
Despite that, Hema and Dharmendra tied the knot in 1980. The two welcomed two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Over the years, Hema and Dharmendra have often spoken fondly about each other. Three days after Dharmendra’s death, Hema Malini took to her X handle to share a heartfelt post for her husband. A part of her note could be read as:
"Dharam ji. He was many things to me. Loving husband, adoring father of our two girls, Esha & Ahaana, friend, philosopher, guide, poet, my ‘go to’ person in all times of need - in fact, he was everything to me! And always has been through good times and bad. He endeared himself to all my family members with his easy, friendly ways, always showing affection and interest in all of them."
For those who do not know, Bollywood icon, Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89. Days before his passing, the legendary actor had been facing health issues and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. However, he was discharged and was recovering at home, before he breathed his last. His last rites were held on the same day. Later, Hema Malini and his first wife, Prakash Kaur organised two separate prayer meets.
Hema Malini is one of the most respected and celebrated actresses in Bollywood. She is widely known as the 'dream-girl' of the Hindi film industry. She made her acting debut with the 1968 film, Sapno Ka Saudagar, alongside Raj Kapoor. Over the years, Hema appeared in more than 150 films, some of which are Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay, Baghban, Dream Girl, Meera, Khuda Kasam, Kinara and more. Reportedly, she even won the Padma Shri in 2000. Apart from being a graceful actor, she is also a classical dancer, producer and politician.
