She started her career with films like Tootsie, Fletch, and Transylvania 6-5000. Geena has even portrayed the lead role in some TV shows, including Buffalo Bill, Commander in Chief, Grey’s Anatomy, The Exorcist, and more.
The actress recently made headlines when she revealed in an interview that she was not attractive enough to portray the lead role in Fletch, released in 1985. While the interview is trending right now, people have started looking into Geena’s personal life. Notably, she has tied the knot four times. Her second marriage was with actor Jeff Goldblum.
As mentioned, Jeff Goldblum was the second husband of Geena Davis. Although the duo exchanged vows in 1987, the marriage did not last for more than four years, leading to their divorce in 1990 due to irreconcilable differences.
Geena once said in an interview that everything was fine between her and Jeff in the beginning, including that they had a lot of hope for the relationship and shared good intentions about their marriage. Although Geena did not share detailed information about the reasons behind their split, she expressed regret over the fact that things did not work out between her and Jeff.
However, a year before their divorce in 1989, Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum spoke up about becoming parents at one point. Geena admitted during the interview that Jeff’s career was getting in the way. She disclosed that the plan was to get pregnant as soon as they decided on a name for their child.
Jeff appeared for another interview years after the divorce, stating that he never wanted to have children. In the same conversation, Jeff recalled the time he spent with Geena, saying that she made love easy for him, adding that she was loving and irresistible. She further stated:
“Steps would be taken gradually sometimes, and sometimes it swept along. And, of course, I’m wildly attracted to her. Wildly attracted. We’d talk about marriage, bring up the idea more and more often over a period of months. We could, we should, wouldn’t it be romantic? We would act out small scenes of life together: ‘Hi, honey, you got some mail today.’ It was very sexy.”
Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum met on the set of the 1985 comedy Transylvania 6-5000. They played love interests in the film, and that’s where their off-screen relationship began. Their chemistry was immediate and carried over after filming wrapped.
