Bhumi Pednekar is playing 'DCP Rita Ferreira' in Amazon Prime Video’s new show. Although the makers of the series have opted for creative liberty in terms of presenting the storyline on screen, the main character is the same as in the book, which was written by Vish Dhamija. The book also features the murders happening in Mumbai and 'DCP Rita Ferreira' being brought in to resolve the mystery behind the deaths. However, things take a different turn when the cases are linked to a human trafficking case that happened back in 1982.

Bhendi Bazaar is a real place located in South Mumbai

The name of Vish Dhamija’s book is taken from a real place in South Mumbai, also called Bhendi Bazaar. It is a marketplace that was established many years ago when the British were ruling India. Many workers were involved in the activities that would develop the city during that period, and the workers were residing in Bhendi Bazaar at that time. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan, confirmed a new project for Bhendi Bazaar worth Rs. 2,000 crores in 2011. A report by DNA stated that the project was being initiated by the Dawoodi Bohra community’s head, Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin.
