In a recent chat with Bollywood Bubble, Delnaaz Irani revealed that she made it very clear from the beginning of her relationship with DJ Percy Karkaria that she would not get married to him. She cited their age gap, which is seen as a taboo in society. The actress was born on September 4, 1972, and will turn 54 in 2026. Sharing about their dynamics, Delnaaz mentioned he was very young and in the midst of figuring out his career when he met her. Delnaaz had just finalised her divorce from ex-husband Rajeev Patel at that time. Love hit her for the second time very unexpectedly when she came across Percy shortly after her split. The two individuals, having gone through failed marriages, found comfort and understanding in each other. However, they were not confident enough to go down the road of marriage again. Delnaaz stated:

"He is 10 years younger than me. Okay? He was still building his career and was very, very young when he met me. I had just come out of a divorce when I met him. I was completely lost, wondering, 'Yeh kya ho raha hai?' But I fell in love. At the same time, I told him that I would not get married. Because he was also a divorcee, and I was also a divorcee. Neither of us wanted to take that chance again."

In the same interview, Delnaaz Irani shared that she often comes across people's curious questions regarding her relationship. They particularly want to know if unfaithfulness is allowed in long-term live-in relationships like her and Percy Karkaria's. To that, she replied that she and her partner are in a monogamous relationship and are as committed as married couples.

Delnaaz further stated that a spousal relationship can also end in a split and is no different from live-in dynamics with Percy. As per her, rather than obsessing on a legal certificate, one should focus on building a bond of love and mutual trust. She stated:

"A lot of people ask me this question, but being in a live-in relationship doesn't give either of us the right to betray the other or to be non-committal. We are just as committed as a husband and wife—maybe even more, I would say. Because these days, we're all seeing what is happening to many husband-wife relationships. Just being married doesn't automatically make a relationship stronger."
