Shaneil Deo’s Dacoit: A Love Story has arrived in theatres on April 10, 2026. The trailer, which was released six days ago on April 4, 2026, hinted at the fact that the movie will have lots of action with a storyline focusing on betrayal and revenge as part of a love story. It marks Adivi Sesh’s solo film after a long gap of four years. The actor was previously seen doing a cameo in Hit: The Third Case, released in 2025.
Dacoit: A Love Story also features Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap in the lead roles. Fans have been eager to see the reasons behind so much of the action happening on screen and the situations that force the lead actor to take the path of crime. The movie has a very normal storyline without any freshness, but there are certain moments where the plot goes in the right direction, keeping viewers engaged without getting distracted by everything happening in their surroundings. All the movies have faced a similar problem over the years where a particular half works for the audience. There have been possibly one or two out of ten films where people enjoyed both halves. The same thing can be said for Dacoit: A Love Story. The action-drama takes the routine storyline to a different level only in the second half. The twists specifically grab the attention at a point where audiences can easily guess how the film is going to end.
The action sequences are the main highlight of the second half. The team that has designed these moments deserves credit for making them entertaining. The action scenes work mainly because of the background music by Gyaan, which will make anyone enjoy those moments, despite being aware of the fact that they are not watching anything new. The emotions also play an important role in this portion, considering that the lead pair’s intention becomes the same here.
The storyline of Dacoit: A Love Story is very simple, where the makers have not stretched the matter beyond a certain point, aiming to make it more interesting or fresh. But the ongoing proceedings work because of the lead pair, Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur.
Whenever the duo appears together on screen, a lot of things happen, keeping viewers glued to their seats. They share the best romantic moments. The theme of betrayal also works up to a great extent, since Adivi and Mrunal get to have some intense confrontation moments on screen. The pair joining each other for a particular intention at one point brings a lot of thrill, which does not leave anyone dissatisfied with everything that they watched for more than two hours.
Because the themes of revenge and betrayal have been added to a love story, anyone will expect a good soundtrack from Dacoit: A Love Story. Bheems Ceciroleo has done a good job here, despite the fact that the placement of the singles could have been better. The special track, Chichubuddi, featuring Jonita Gandhi and Pawan Singh, will bring a different kind of atmosphere inside theatres, mainly in single screens, where it is expected to be celebrated with claps and whistles.
The cinematography by Danush Bhaskar is also excellent, mainly in those moments where a lot of action is happening on screen. The editing is decent, since there are a few instances where the film nose dives. Thanks to the twists added to the story, viewers will easily ignore those moments and decide to focus on what is happening on screen. The betrayal moment is expected to remind anyone of Ajay Bhupathi’s RX 100. But since a lot of things happen too early, the makers have managed to execute the material in a different form until the end.
Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur are the ones who have carried a simple plot on their own shoulders, making Dacoit: A Love Story entertaining to watch. They are the main focus of the storyline, since it is about two lovers who made a promise not to leave each other until one of them gets married to another person, and the hero is sent to prison. Adivi manages to bring an intense form of himself on screen, proving that he can play a hero who can impress the mass audience. Mrunal is equally good, mainly in the emotional moments.
Among other actors, all of them get a chance to shine on screen, despite their characters not having a lot of potential to leave a big impact. Anurag Kashyap will hold everyone’s attention once he is introduced. Although Prakash Raj deserved a bigger role, he manages to leave an impression. Marie Zayn Khan and Atul Kulkarni also get a scope to prove that they are dependable actors.
