Ray revealed that it was at six months that they found out their son had no heartbeat. They later got to know that his umbilical cord was tied in a tight knot and there was nothing they could have done to save him.
Ray and Emily revealed details of their baby's passing to their kids
Ray and Emily have been through the toughest phase as they were all set to welcome their baby. But it turned into a tragedy after their baby passed away, and they realized during the six-month scan that he had no heartbeat. The couple has a blended family, including their four-year-old daughter, Summer Reign.
The couple is also nurturing Ray's son, Harry (14), with his ex-wife, Emma Stephens, and Lucian (13), from Emily's past relationship. On their podcast, Emily shared how they told their kids the heart-wrenching news. She shared that it was important for her to tell the children the truth about their baby's passing.
Emily thought that their children needed to know the truth about their baby's passing, so they told them by showing a photo of their baby boy, Rio, and revealed that it was their little brother, but he is not going to be with them at their home, as he is up in the sky. She shared:
"If you don't tell them the truth and what is actually happening, I feel like it is more harm than good. So we told them. We showed them pictures of Rio and said, 'This is your little brother, but he's not going to come home with us. He's up in the sky. So whenever we look in the clouds, and we see the sunshine, he's going to be there. Whenever the stars shine, the brightest star at night, that's Rio."
The couple also got a little wool love heart, placing one with Rio and giving their other children their own to stay connected with their brother. Emily also revealed that their daughter helped her with her own grief with the way she made the whole process so loving. She said:
"I love my baby Rio, and when we go to sleep at night, she says, 'Mommy, he is going to be around us,' and she talks about him.' When we see babies in the park, something that we would be upset about and try to avoid, she would point it out and say, 'Look, Mommy, there's a baby. There's a baby. There's a baby in the pram.' Like baby Rio. And I think it helped us a little bit. Summer being the way she was and just speaking about it so freely."
On their podcast, Ray and Emily revealed that things were fine with their baby until the 20-week scan. However, at six months, Emily noticed that she wasn't feeling much movement and felt her bump looked smaller. Emily, who was diagnosed with an anterior placenta, was told that she would feel less movement, but she felt something was wrong, and they booked a scan.
It was then they found out that their baby had no heartbeat. Emily broke down in tears, revealing how their world stopped in that moment. They had shared a black-and-white snap with their baby on Instagram. Along with it, Ray penned a heart-wrenching note about how they had been through a lot. He wrote:
"Our beautiful boy, born sleeping... 20th August 2026. No words will ever be enough; just indescribable feelings. Heaven gained the most beautiful little angel, and we were overjoyed when Rio was born, and we found out we had a little boy!! The last few weeks have been a lot, but our saving grace has been each other."
We pray for Ray and Emily as they navigate the toughest time of their lives.
