After reports claimed their divorce was mutual, Bunnie Xo revealed it wasn't. The podcaster recalled a fight, IVF struggles, and growing issues that ultimately led Jelly Roll to file for divorce.
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo's shocking divorce has shaken the online music community, especially given the number of storms the couple has endured together over the years. Amid numerous speculations making the rounds on social media since reports of Jelly's divorce filing, his estranged wife, Bunnie Xo, has finally broken her silence in a new tell-all episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast. The creator says that their split was not at all mutual.
As Jelly Roll himself addressed the divorce proceedings, Bunnie candidly opened up about the final argument that unknowingly pushed their decade-long marriage to its breaking point, just before Mother's Day 2026.
When news of the split first broke, reports suggested that Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo had mutually agreed to end their marriage. However, Bunnie now says that's not entirely true. In her emotional new episode of Dumb Blonde, the host admitted that Jelly's decision to file for a divorce stemmed from an impulsive moment during their argument. She was allegedly the one who told Jelly to 'file the f---ing divorce papers'. The podcaster recalled:
"I just looked at him and I said, ‘Well, file the f---ing divorce papers. And in our relationship, that is the one cardinal thing that you don't say, even though my husband has said it numerous times…. But when I say it, it really holds weight... He was so mad and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers."
Reflecting on that impulsive moment, Bunnie says the comment came from a place of frustration rather than a genuine desire to end the marriage. According to her, she never expected her husband to actually go through with it. Bunnie admitted:
"Was this divorce mutual? No. It was not mutual, even though I told him to file the divorce papers. I was speaking out of anger and just frustration. But was it necessary for us to have a wake-up call and for us to start having these real conversations? Absolutely."
Bunnie revealed that the turning point came during a heated disagreement around Mother's Day, i.e., May 10, 2026. While she did not divulge the exact details of their argument, the podcast host explained that these fallouts resulted from years of unspoken frustrations that had built up between the couple, and ultimately, she snapped. Bunnie shared in her podcast:
"J and I have never really been good at having disagreements. He would be holding things in. I would be holding things in, and that's a recipe for disaster."
Feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, Bunnie finally snapped during the argument and told Jelly Roll to file for divorce. Shortly afterward, she packed a bag and left. There was so much anger between her and Jelly that they reportedly did not speak for several weeks. Possibly taking that silence as his answer, the Save Me singer went ahead with the divorce filing. The official date of that application was listed as May 9, 2026, just a day before Mother's Day.
In an emotional moment from Bunnie's podcast, she discussed her and Jelly's difficult IVF journey. The 46-year-old revealed that repeated fertility treatments with no result took a devastating toll on her own mental, physical, and emotional health. She confessed that for the past year and a half, she had become "a shell of the person I was." After multiple heartbreaking losses, including four embryos and three failed transfers, the process was one of the "loneliest and darkest journeys" she has ever experienced.
Beyond IVF, Jelly himself faced his own struggles during the process. Besides his weight loss treatment, the singer learned he had a low sperm count and underwent additional procedures. Together with the hormones and medications prescribed to him, the singer's mood and behaviour were both severely affected, which only created additional stress on an already fragile situation. With the growing pressure, the couple slowly drifted away from the open communication that had helped them survive previous challenges.
Despite the shocking split, both Bunnie and Jelly insist there is no bad blood between them. The former couple, who married in 2016 and renewed their vows in 2023, continue to speak positively about one another. Jelly Roll recently told fans during a concert that Bunnie remains his best friend and will likely be "the only woman" he ever loves in that way. Bunnie, too, shared that they plan to welcome a child together through surrogacy and hope to co-parent as "one big happy family."
And with these revelations, Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll are once again proving why they remain one of the most honest celebrity couples.
