Amid the fiasco, an old video of Britney Spears has surfaced, where she talks about being a mother in the public eye. It addresses the 2006 incident where she stumbled outside Manhattan's The Ritz-Carlton while holding her 8-month-old son, Sean Preston, almost dropping him.
Britney Spears was one of the biggest music stars in the early 2000s. So much so that cameras followed everywhere she went, including the May 2006 incident when she accidentally almost dropped her son Sean Preston after her pants got caught in her shoe. Amid the ongoing fiasco about her parents, the video of Britney talking about the incident during an interview has resurfaced.
During the conversation, Britney Spears is asked about the incident and how it felt being labelled as a "bad mom". Britney reflects on the same and says, "Yeah, it makes you really strong." However, when she is asked whether she cried with all the scrutiny she was facing, she said:
"Oh, I've wept. I've definitely wept just with the world, you know, how judgemental they are. Stuff happens with kids; that's reality, not everybody has 80 cameras on them 24x7."
The interviewer further asked Britney Spears what bothered her the most about the incident, to which she revealed that she had stopped because she was hungry and then the entire incident happened. However, she started crying when she "thought, you know, 'you're a mom, why are you asking to take my pictures right now?'" The interviewer further brought up the magazine cover that tagged the picture as "Oops #3", to which Britney said:
"I am so blessed with my baby; it's the happiest thing that's ever...like a miracle. You know, but I just want the most normal life possible for him. That's all....I will manage. I will create that. There's always a way; where there's a will, there's a way. You have to believe."
On Friday, August 7, 2026, Britney Spears made a huge post on X sharing old pictures of her son Sean Preston and Jayden James along with multiple slides of texts where she blamed her parents, Lynne Spears and Jamie Spears. The singer is calling her parents out for taking her sons to the beach without her, which left her anguished. She wrote:
"Those two little bodies came out of my belly...Unfortunately, it wasn’t until five years ago that I saw they were secretly taken to the beach by my mom and dad...the whole summer. I felt demoralised to live in a country where it was accepted for people like my mom and dad to live secret lives with my children…I honestly went to my knees and cried for two months."
Britney Spears has also accused her parents of being the reason why her son believes in science. She said, "My son told me last week it was all science he didn't personally believe in God...In that moment I believed I had failed as a mother because I know there is a Holy Spirit that sits high in the kingdom of heaven." She concluded her post by apologising for her past mistakes.
