Recently, a 22-year-old Brazilian influencer, Maria Eduarda Alves dos Santos, passed away days after talking about undergoing breast reduction surgery. However, more than the pros, Maria, who is known as 'Duda Alves' revealed the pain she has been having since the surgery.
Maria was just 22 when she underwent breast reduction surgery. She died on September 13, 2026, and her death was confirmed by local authorities after a series of tributes were shared by her friends and family across social media. Her funeral was held at Sao Joao Paulo II Parish in Brasilia, Brazil, on September 15, 2026.
The Civil Police of the Federal District shared that Maria's death is currently being investigated as a suicide. However, they have declined to share any further details on the matter to protect her family's privacy. Maria shared over 800,000 followers across her TikTok and Instagram accounts.
She would often share about her personal life, from her daily routine to sharing adorable videos with her boyfriend and other lifestyle content. However, she had posted less on Instagram since last year.
On September 9, 2026, Maria shared a video on TikTok, wherein she talked about undergoing breast reduction surgery. In the clip, Maria shared that she had received crude comments from men who criticized her. She expalined that she underwent the surgery for self-comfort and aesthetic reasons.
Maria also shared in the video that it had been three weeks since her procedure and that she had been through a lot of pain and had been vomiting a lot. Not only this, but she had been suffering from excruciating discomfort, and she kept crying from the pain she underwent.
Social media users shared tribute messages for the internet personality after her death. Her cousin, Geovan Alves, shared that she had the best nineteen years of her life full of laughter, silly fights, secrets, trips, conversations and so many dreams together. She will always remember the time she spent with Maria and will keep their memory in her heart. She wrote:
"I will never forget everything we lived through. Every memory we shared will be kept in the most beautiful place in my heart. I hope you know how much you were loved. How much you are loved. And that, somehow, you can feel all the love that remains here."
Maria's friend, Clarissa Pavie, also recalled the best time she has spent with the influencer. She stated that it was a privilege to live life with Maria and to see her different phases, her evolution and to be able to accumulate so many beautiful memories that will be eternal just like her. She wrote:
"What a privilege it was to share some years of my life by her side, to follow her phases, her evolution, and to be able to accumulate so many beautiful memories that will be eternal, just like you. Thank you for changing my life and for holding my hand when I needed you."
