Indian cricketer, Abhishek Sharma needs no introduction. Currently, the star is shining bright as one of the strongest players of Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is worth mentioning that Abhishek Sharma has been trained by the legendary cricketer, Yuvraj Singh. Now that Abhishek Sharma is all set for his IPL match against Gujarat Titans, did you know that Yuvraj Singh once made the SRH player mop the floor just because he came late? Yes, that’s true.
Yuvraj Singh had an interview with My FM India, during which he opened up about parenthood and how his life changed after being a father to two children. During the same, he also shared insights from his childhood life with his father, Yograj Singh, who is a former cricketer and actor. Yuvraj mentioned that his father forced him a lot into studies as well as cricket, maybe much more than what was needed.

Further, he explained that he uses the same lessons to train young cricketers; however, he does not force them like Yograj Singh. Sharing an incident, he mentioned the left-handed batsman, Abhishek Sharma and recalled the time, when he made him mop the gym floor only because he came late. Yuvraj Singh was quoted as saying:
"Jo mere dad ne mujhe sikhaya hai aur jo mujhe lagta hai ki yeh cheez nahi karni chahiye, toh I can do better things around to get the same skill out. For example, agar koi late hota hai ya discipline nahi hai toh matlab usse 50 rounds aur bhaga diye, 40 minute aur marwa di. Waise abhi Abhishek Sharma ko gym mein pocha marwaya tha. Uske baad woh late nahi hua."

Ever since the IPL 2026 season began, Abhishek Sharma has been performing very well. He is gradually becoming one of the strongest players of SRH. Amid that, a few weeks ago, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a match with Delhi Capitals, in which Abhishek smashed 138 runs off 68 balls. His performance made SRH win that match.

Soon after the innings ended, Yuvraj Singh, his mentor, took to his X (formerly Twitter) to share a heartfelt post for Abhishek, in which he appreciated his game. The post said, "Let the bat do the work! Getting better each day. Well played sir Abhishek! Keep up with the process." During a conversation with JioStar, a few days ago, the opening batsman of SRH, Abhishek Sharma opened up about being trained by Yuvraj Singh. He called himself lucky that he got the opportunity to get trained by one of the best cricketers of his time. He also revealed that during the camp, Yuvraj Singh had made it clear that he is not training the young players for IPL or for domestic matches, rather, he wants them to play impactful innings for India. Abhishek Sharma was quoted as saying:
"Training with Yuvi paaji was a huge moment for me. I had looked up to him since I was a child. He was my idol. He gave me some guidance early on, but we didn’t have much time together. Then came the lockdown. I think Yuvi paaji saw it as an opportunity to work closely with a few players. I was lucky to be one of them. He said that he was preparing me mentally to win big matches for India, to play impactful innings, and to deliver with the ball when it matters most."
