More than any wedding, we eagerly wait for a celeb wedding and whenever we hear the news of the same, we jump with excitement. And the recent one to enter the bandwagon of a married couple of television is Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame, Divya Bhatnagar. Divya, who has featured in many shows like Udaan, Jeet Gayi Toh Piyaa Morre, Vish and many more, tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend, Gagan in a Gurudwara wedding.
Divya Bhatnagar took the nuptial vows with Gagan, who also works in the television industry on December 22, 2019. Gagan works for a production house and also handles artist management. On December 23, 2019, Divya took to her Instagram handle and shared the good news with her fans by posting a picture from their wedding and wrote, “WE DID.” Divya wore a baby pink-coloured sharara and Gagan opted for a beige-coloured sherwani with a red turban.
In an interview with The Times of India, Divya Bhatnagar opened up about her wedding details and revealed that the duo wanted a simple wedding without any taam-jhaam. They only invited a handful of close friends on their big day and performed all the rituals, including mehendi, haldi and chooda ceremony. Divya added further that everything happened suddenly, and the duo have been in a relationship for five years. The duo has weathered many storms but was certain that they want to be together. Divya Bhatnagar and Gagan’s families didn’t attend the wedding as they were against their relationship as it was an inter-caste relationship. Talking about the same, Divya revealed that Gagan and she have faced a lot of hurdles as their families did not approve of their relationship. She also added that every time they thought of tying the knot, they would face a new obstacle. The duo had gotten engaged in 2015, without their families present to solemnise the ceremony.
Talking about the family issues, Divya stated, “My mother was against our marriage, as we belong to different castes. We tried our best to convince her, but in vain. Both my mom and I have been through tough times after my father passed away in 2017. I even moved to Delhi, as I was shattered after his death and not in a state to work. I returned to Mumbai eventually, because I wanted to get my life back on track. Despite all these odds, Gagan and I were sure about being together. Finally, we decided to tie the knot.”
Divya is keen on convincing her mother about her wedding and she further added, “I know thodi naraazgi hai, par mujhe pata hai sab theek ho jaayega, eventually. I am certain that she will come around, as for a parent, nothing is more important than her child’s happiness. I plan to make a surprise visit to my mother with Gagan and I am certain that she will give us her blessings. I am a bit scared of facing her.
